Cinetronic: the Elephant in the room - updated discussion

I ordered my monitor just over three months ago. Both emails I have sent were answered within 24 hours. Still no monitor. It does feel a little odd having sent almost $7K for products I don't have yet. I'd rather wait than receive something I'll have to send back to get updated. I appreciate that this isn't a big company, their product is in high demand and that they are still working some of the kinks out.

Until then I'm happy using my TB-6. It is still working great after 10 flawless years of hard service.

FYI, new firmware available online. 8-13-13

BTW: I was able to successfully update today using a windows XP / AMD chip computer once i figured out with driver to use.

Jens, can you share? I have Windows 7 / AMD and haven't been able to do it yet.

Downloaded installer software and firmware. Unzipped both into folder.

Supply power to the monitor (battery) and connect to computer with usb cable.

Press both power and menu button.

Computer prompts unknown device, click on install driver from specific location. Go to folder where installer is unzipped and select 64 bit folder.

Install driver.

Start installer software and select .inf file.

Start update, takes about 5 minutes.

Installation of the driver worked for Jens because he's on Windows XP. Windows 7 and beyond require driver digigal signing, and the driver is unsigned.

Afton, to install the driver, you'll have to turn off driver digital signing enforcement. There are two methods online, you can find them on Google. Once installed, you'll be good.

I have the new Artemis monitor bracket, and I am using those yokes on my Cinetronic and my Transvideo. Makes swapping monitors over quick and simple, less than 20 seconds.

Rock solid and very flexible in terms of monitor placement.

I would like to see a change in how to turn the monitor off.

I think it would be good to have to press two buttons at the same time, first two on the left or on/off and menu button.

I don't like that fact that there is no feedback from the monitor, or like the alexa, an on-screen countdown 3-2-1..., would be a great solution, at least you can see what's happening...

With response to people needing a backup monitor to work with the Cinetronic. All you need is a RED BYTE. because if you come across a camera that doesn't work with the monitor then simply downconvert it!

I've been using this monitor 3 to 4 days a week for many months. I like it a lot. The only times I miss my TB6 are with DoP s that underexpose by 2 stops on the Alexa and its bright contrasty sunlight. I am sure I can gain this up in the monitor though and truly... this doesn't happen often. With normal DoP s in these conditions its totally fine.

I am a big fan. There have been teething problems but seemingly these are getting sorted. I do reallty like my primary monitor.

Still having issues with the "frameline memory" but not when turning the monitor off, rather than turning the camera off and back on. After loosing the image signal to the monitor, the framelines were turned off and when I turned them back on, User 1 and 2 were enabled rather then just User 1. Anybody else has the same issue?

Tested this morning with composite 2 input and noted similar issue. Usually on the second time I removed the input the frameline disappeared. However, if I kept the last used menu page at the frameline on/off toggle , then a press of Menu would restore the last set frameline.

Can someone please tell me how Cinetronic can be advertising another 7" Gen1 for sale and in stock on Film Stuff when they still haven't delivered mine that I bought 12 weeks ago at Cinegear whilst standing right in front of Chris and talking through it with him? I've been quite patient with the zero communication but am getting seriously annoyed about this now.

Beware "in stock" doesn't mean that at all! I guess it's easy to fob off someone because they can't just turn up on your doorstep when in another country Chris?

Hopefully someone at Film Stuff messed up and just clicked the wrong button, You'd hope they'd send you the one you paid for 3 months ago before offering one to ANYONE, much less For sale to anyone who clicked a few clicks on their site.

But it does say "Availability limited to stock on hand"

Hopefully your Model 1 will arrive on your doorstep any day now.!

I'm glad you mentioned something on here. I should be ready to buy a Model 1 for one of the sleds soon but I'll wait till you get yours.
