They are in such short supply in london emergency hires often don t happen. I want to build a video tap for the eyepiece of a camcorder (varicam/f900 etc etc). For this I intend to use one of these cheap (80 dollars) camera units you can get at maplins/radioshack Has anyone tried putting one of these onto a camcorder eyepiece ? Any idea what lens I should use ? how should i try to attach it ? any other points to save me spunking money on bits that don't work ? They have a load of cables and god knows what other gadgets that I have on my shopping list. The camera has hirose and BNC connectors, ideal for our use. Description is vague though, "general purpose camera". It might be worth giving them a call for full specs and to ask the question, as it looks like it could be just the job. Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted June 17, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 17, 2005 In every big shopping mall and electronic mall here in Bangkok I find many (whole stores with these items only) ccd camera´s in all shapes and sizes, with or without transmitter, electronic shutters,zoomlenses and with FOCUSABLE lenses as well. They are all c-mount and sometimes the focus even comes as close as the dirt on lens. I´m not sure which lens would be the best for a monitor. I know that one french operator uses a b/w camera like this to shoot on HD and use his TB-6 monitor The only issue could be when the are shooting 30I or P or 24P (23.9xx), where you will see a rolling black bar. Wrap a Sony XC999 (Pulnix in the UK) in foam and gaffer tape, unscrew the c-mount lens a tiny bit so it would close focus and then jam it in the eyepiece.
