Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted September 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 Hopefully this takes a bit out of Red's dominance in the low budget world. I can't wait to get my hands on one!

Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted September 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 What Arri is doing is smart, they are using their existing technology to create a camera for a specific market segment, documentary and news and going into Sony / Panasonic territory. The lower budget film production market should profit as well. Should be a nice camera for Steadicam.... One of the bigger news, very short start up time and lower power consumption

Premium Members JobScholtze Posted September 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 13, 2013 It feels great on the shoulder too. You can move the sholder pad AND the top handle to find your cg. Smart camera
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted September 14, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 Played with it today, fantastic on the shoulder, the Arri guys are starting to realize that it's not just a camera for docs but it's the LT of the Alexa line. Boot is fast, power consumption is low, uses the standard Alexa plate. Has an innovative viewfinder that is both an OLED and a 3" (ircc) fold out VF/touchscreen The sliding shoulder mount and top handle is pure genius. Oh and the price they are talking about.... VERY affordable
Premium Members Joe Lawry Posted September 14, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 Does it take a standard Arri Fisher power connector? Is the power setup the same as the Alexa?
Premium Members Martin Stacey Posted September 14, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 14, 2013 Will it fit in a Movi while mounted on a steadicam?

Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted September 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 I had dinner with the project manager tonight and made my suggestions/request's. Power plugs are going to change, and the price hasn't been set.
Premium Members Kris Torch Wilson Posted September 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 Lol. It looks like a TV camera to me, yet you "film" guys are pissing on yourselves. It's hilarious.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted September 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 15, 2013 Weird comment. This is the same sensor the Alexa uses, records all Pro Res formats in Log C, in a smaller, lighter, cheaper package. Perfect for STEADICAM, isn't this the STEADICAM forum ? The 35 mm sensor actually makes it a challenge for live TV. If it holds up, it's the perfect 3rd camera on a show.

Other than ArriRAW uncompressed you give up nothing with this camera other than weight and size.
