The Mike Tapas Adapter works only with lenses that do have a range extender and the range extender has to be engaged. A 4,5 mm Super Wide Angle becomes a 9 mm. 9 mm on a (2/3 inch) video zoom as widest choice, that was good in 1988. (I don´t know what "real" focal length comes out of the adaptor, it magnifies). You loose light and the lens gets soft. Range extenders are nice to have but working all the time with them engaged is not what they are intended for. I hope Arri has a better solution.

Just coming from an Amira demo.

It is confirmed the Amira will use a different, new 8 pin power plug, uses about 55 watts (85 watts Alexa) and weights in at about 10lbs, body only. Start-up time less than 10 seconds.

Same chip as Alexa, 16:9 only though, Pros Res, 200FPS on Cfast 2.0 cards, PL, PV, EF and B4 mounts

Why the hell does a power plug need 8 pins?

Does the sliding baseplate come off and give reasonable mounting options? Are we going to need a new plate?

To carry the current required and longevity.

The sliding base does not come off, you use a Alexa plate. The one that will be up on Film-stuff on friday will be the perfect plate.
