Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted March 7, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 7, 2014 BUT, you are getting the image and build quality of an Alexa for $ 20000 less, i think that is a great price
Premium Members Lars Erik Posted March 7, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 7, 2014 Yes, I agree. But the trick is to convince tv-producers that they get value for their money. In the TV-world alot of the time producers very often only look at the price.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted March 7, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 7, 2014 supply and demand will set the price and the regular Alexas will likely get cheaper to rent too...
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted March 8, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 8, 2014 $40K  Oh man. I had hoped that they had lowered the price more. It will be a way tougher path to go now to convince producers to go for this camera.  http://www.hdvideopro.com/blog/editor/2014/01/arri-now-taking-orders-on-doc-style-amira-camera-priced-at-39999.html   Lets see Alexa look and quality AND 200FPS recording to the much less expensive CFast cards? This camera is a winner
Premium Members Lars Erik Posted March 8, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 8, 2014 Good point Eric. As I said, I'm a believer. It's just that I know how tv producers always try so save a buck.
Premium Members JobScholtze Posted March 8, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 8, 2014 I own a Sony F5/F55. With a 4K raw recorder. It shoots 240fps in 2K Its great in 4K. Shoots also xavchd or Mpg HD as lowres ( which is standard def so very nice already ) Small, Light, Oled viewer, user friendly and costs a hell of a lot less then the arri. I know, apples and orange, but producers love that kind of things. It gets really adapted overhere. I was hoping the New arri would have been in that price range.
Premium Members Alan G. Kelly SOC Posted March 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 18, 2014 Anybody know what the run/stop input is? Hoping it's still a 3-pin RS.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted April 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 9, 2014 I saw the Amira again yesterday, beautiful, stripped down body only, it is around 10lbs. Â It has a dovetail top and bottom to attach an ARRI supplied cheese plate. Super fast turnaround. Â Greg Bubb @ XCS now has the power cables available for the Amira. The camera will be on shows this summer as delivery begins next month...
Premium Members Alfeo Dixon SOC Posted April 10, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 10, 2014 Anyway to get a RAW output for external recording? That would truly make this a less than 4K game changer

If it is 3B it would be the same connector as the F65/35/23, which makes me think it is the 2B size.
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted April 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2014 It's a 2B due to space considerations
Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted April 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2014 It's a 2B due to space considerations copy that. Thanks! I guess we will get a pin-out when the manual comes out.
Premium Members Benjamin Verhulst Posted April 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2014 We were going to use the prototype on a project the other month, so ARRI Germany passed the specs on to Burbank for me. No guarantees it hasn't changed since the prototype, but as of Jan 30th it was an FGJ.2B.308.CYMD72Z. Â Pins 2,3,4 were GND and 6,7,8 + Pins 1 and 5 are not used. Â They think I had the first power cables in the US, they didn't even have an XLR version for a block battery!
