Today we celebrate Veteran's Day in The United States. We honor all the men and women who have protected and fought for our country. Though many of us don't approve of the country's choices, these brave men and women go out there anyway and put their lives on the line for people like us to have a beautiful life as filmmakers.

The first half of my life was spent as an Army brat. Born into a military family, always a new place, always a new set of rules. So I am very thankful to all those that have served in any branch of the armed forces. Military life is rough!

Also, the beauty of being a filmmaker is that the military has always had a part in cinema history. Through the engineering of still and motion cameras, camera support mechanics, photographed images, and even veterans working specific jobs in the industry over the years. There has always been a combination of military and cinema.

I am curious to know how many of you Steadicam Veterans are out there? Domestic and International? Who all has served their country? I would like to know who all I am thankful for? Branch, rank, years, story?

Happy Veteran's day all! Fly safe out there!

Ok, no responses yet. I'll start by thanking the two I do know about. Jack Bridges over at PRO did his 17 years of time in the Army. And same with the 7 years David Baldwin did. BOTH are amazing men! Thank you guys! Hope you're celebrating with your families today!

Back when me and Willy D were in 'Nam, we were deep on patrol in enemy territory when my M-One started chattering like crazy, threatening to give away our position. Demerritt tried to silence the motor like Alan Alda did to that chicken on M*A*S*H, but it was too late. Lost a couple of good focus-pullers that day...
