Premium Members Manny Torres Posted November 12, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 12, 2013 Hi guys, Its been a while since i posted but here goes. I have a Steadficam Clipper 24. Great rig and it serves me well, but i need to upgrade from my Composite 700 nit stock monitor to a shiny new HD monitor. Problem is i can never get a straight answer from Steadicam if this will even work on my rig. It was originally wired for RGB to get HD on my rig, which no one uses anymore. One guy at Tiffen says i can get an HD signal down that line. another guy says no way. Wondering if ther are any Clipper 24 users out there who may have found a solution to this problem. Any ideas woud be greatly appreciated. Manny SteadiManNY
Premium Members GrantCulwell Posted November 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2013 I used to own a clipper 24 and it was wired for HD so I'm not quite sure why it would be a problem.
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted November 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2013 You can try borrowing an HD monitor from someone to plug in to one of the RGB lines and test the theory.
Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted November 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2013 I had a C24 as well and am pretty sure I was able to have a break-out cable made for the 7 pin lemo on the top and bottom stages that allowed me to run an HD signal down and out. The cable runs on that connector are much better than most. It's been so long so I'm sorry if that is not the case. Either way I'm sure you can get a cable run done for it without a lot of problem. Other than the top stage that system is pretty user friendly to service. Robert
Premium Members Tom Wills Posted November 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2013 Looks like Tiffen even makes a cable for this exact purpose. Super pricey though! $300 for each end of the sled. Maybe one of the cabling wizards (Chris Konash or Terry West) could do something similar for cheaper. http://www.tiffen.com/displayproduct.html?tablename=steadicam&itemnum=252-7922

Premium Members Colin Donahue Posted November 16, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 16, 2013 Manny, I have two of these cables that I don't use anymore. I used them with my Archer and a Nebtek Solar HD sled. I sent you a PM. Colin Donahue
