Just built my first Epic/Scarlet start/stop cable for Bartech

So here it is; I've been planning this cable for a few weeks now, and I've finally gotten it all put together. I've bench tested it, and I plan on a field test this weekend.

I've designed this as an all-in-one solution. I don't need to have Red's sync breakout cable, I don't need to run a separate power line in addition to the Bartech receiver power cable, and I don't have to worry about changing batteries out on it. I've also installed a tally light that comes on when the circuit is active. It's also very compect. The enclosure is 1.25"x1.25"x0.5".

It's meant to be Velcro'ed to the receiver, but it can also be attached the the camera body or hang freely.

Let me know what you think.

I love the all in one solution. Never liked that the PLC version had to be powered separately. I always wondered why it couldn't just take power from the bartech. And the price! How much do you think it cost you to make that? How was it soldering that 00 connector?

I haven't looked through all of my receipts yet to find out what the cost is per unit, but it's still a little pricey. Not $450 pricey though.

The soldering of the 00 cable went very smoothly. I was very surprised and delighted with it. All that soldering practice has paid off.

That's because the Digital bartech does not have a power out. For the analog version, it makes more sense to use the power loop through.

Not to take away from Alan, but if he gets backed up and you are in need of one - Chris at East Coast cables made one for me exactly like this several months back.

It's even listed for order on his site now under the Epic drop down menu - http://www.eastcoastcables.com/red/

I'd like to see pictures of Chris's cable. I've been to his lair at Panavision NYC and he does great work. Form factor is important to me and I love the way Alan's is laid out. Will report back after this weekend!
