My Sh*& Don't Stink and Yours Doesn't Either. What's the best shot you've done and why?

Here are my two cents and my first post in this forum. The video was a no-budget student production in 2010. I flew my old rig (lots of modification), the weather was freezing cold and it was a bit of half-legal guerilla shooting. The footage is far from being professional from every point of view but I like it anyway because of the dynamic of the pictures. The band was super happy about the result. This counts.

BAM, you nailed on the head exactly what I thought this thread should be. Like you said, not the most exciting operating ever but something you';re psyched you were a part of (the music itself is a bit tough personally, but that's me). I like the drummer on the wall early on. Good stuff and thanks for sharing. Was this all in one day?

No, two days were planned but we got snow on the second day. We had to go out a third day because the footage from the first shooting was without snow. Compositing was really a pain and a lot of Maya / Shake / After Effects hassle and the more often I watch the video the more mistakes I see. But anyway. It was fun. I have a Making Of somewhere on Vimeo which shows all the chaos. It is in German, though.

Heyy!

My turn to jump in. I've been operating since last May, when I took the SOA workshop. It's been an amazing year, learned a lot, bought a rig (Pro CineLive), made contacts, learned again... I've done a couple of music videos and short movies since then and I'm loving it more and more each time I put the rig on. Can't wait to be more in the narrative world.

Anyway... Did this music video a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty happy of the result. I know I still have some work to do on my horizon. The moves I had to do in this one were pretty quick (because it was shot in a little slow motion) so it was the first time for me to "fight" that much to keep it level. Since then I've ordered myself a tiffen digital level to help for the next ones. :)

By the way, it's french :)

aloha everyone to start my hats off to all steadicam ops and a hugh thanks to dave chameidas your shit ROCKS been watching your work for many years and thanks for a great thread so okay lets try this  after blowing my knee out thought i would put together a reel not all my favorite stuff but stuff i had available to work with and there is one shot that has a lot of vibration which wasn't my rig but a red camera with some loose screws on the lens mount we found out later but it was a super fun low mode shot and both the dp and director liked it  so i threw it in and also i included a oner music video we did for a 48 hour film contest

Here's a piece I did some Steadicam work on recently, I was quite happy with it, there were no dollies knocking around so I was executing all the shots that had any tracking in them, we had a rickshaw for the super-low mode shot of the models feet etc to make the extreme tilt up to the dome a little easier, couple of ever so slightly off Horizons in there which bug me watching it back, nothing really ground-breaking in terms of moves, but came together quite nicely I think.
