Announcing the Teradek Bolt Pro 2000 Zero Delay Transmitter

Nice. What does it looks like when it starts to loose signal?

We're shooting a video this week to show its performance around corners, through numerous objects (cars, trees, people), and reconnection time.

Like the original Bolt, the transmission cannot go through solid concrete or brick. It can go around walls occasionally if the RF is bounced off an adjacent wall. However, we don't recommend having the expectation it can do this regularly -- we always recommend line of sight for optimal performance.

Hey Guys,

Mike are you realy sure about the distance measurement in your demo video?

at minute 2:30 the displayed turning point of the cyclist is about 2000 feet from the receivers position. But when you pay attention watching the moment of his turnround (2:14) it is clear that this point is far nearer to the receivers position than the position shown on the map.

Just to be 100% transparent. It is true that i am colaborating with Rebotnix which is a competitior to Teradek, but in this instance i am writing this as a user. Don't get me wrong. As an Steadicam Operator i am a very happy Bolt-User since the first hour it was released and i think it is a great product. So this post is no offence at all, i just want to inform you and fellow customers that there might be a misstake in your demovideo. (about the feature of transmiting range, which can be crucial to us) I don't know if it realy can transmit up to 2000 feet but in the video it cleary transmitted not much more than 1000 feet.

I did a quick overview here to put all information together. (please check in full resolution)

Here you can find the positions on google maps:

I tried to be as precise in my analysis as i can be. If i got something wrong please let me know.

Best regards,

Karsten

Karsten,

The video was cut together by Andy our video guy. I can speak with him about this as I was not there when the video was shot.

If there is any doubt, I will be sure to post a follow up video with a clearer measurement.

EDIT: I spoke with Andy and he said he cut together multiple runs in this video to make it better as a promo (he claims we hit the intersection multiple times, but the shots looked boring so he opted for something that looked nicer). As you well know, shooting a long video going 2000ft is hardly interesting. We will follow up in one week when I get back into town with a more scientific measurement to prove this device reaches up to 2000ft.

Hi Mike,

thanks for working that out. It was just strange to see a clearly wrong distance measurement in that demovideo. Never mind, i am looking forward to see the full 2000ft range. Will it downscale the quality with the distance, like other long range uncompressed systems do?

as i said, i realy love the Bolt. I basicly use it on every shoot, Steadicam or handheld/tripod operating, just to avoid cable clutter and save time when moving on. Seeing that without quality loss on longer ranges would be realy nice.

Karsten, this is the second thread that Rebotnix has hijacked in order to advertise their products on the backs of other companies. It's not very courteous.

then explain this post alan.... it wasn't even about a transmitter but you worked in the company you work/don't work for.... http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=19544&p=96021

Eric, I know you have some kind of personal beef with me for some reason, so I'm just going to ignore you and hope the thread turns back to the Bolt 2000.

No beef, just want to know why you think it's okay to post in a non transmitter thread about "Your" transmitter, ESPECIALLY when you call out other transmitter manufactures

On a much brighter note...

Our awesome sponsors for The Stabilizer Workshops, Teradek sent us a pre-production Bolt 2000 to test for a few days! :D

Out of the box it feels well made and respective of this class / price TX/RX. I've made arrangements for Alex White to test it at and during a live show in one of the big casino theaters for two days and then we'll take it for a long walk outside and see how it does.

More photos coming soon!

Robert
