Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted December 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 9, 2013 So how does everybody keep the Preston Strap Ring from unscrewing from the HU3 and the Single Channel unit? Mine keep loosening and I fear that my HU3 will take a nasty tumble from my assistants neck because the ring threaded out of the HU. Thanks Jamie
Premium Members Aaron Medick SOC Posted December 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 9, 2013 Thread locker and a strap with a swivel lanyard clip so it can in twist at the swivel rather than the bolt.
Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted December 9, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 9, 2013 That's assuming that I still have the bolt on the bottom of the screw thread............ Thanks Aaron.
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted December 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 9, 2013 In a pinch one day I used the ring/pin from the prop guy's prince albert. It was a nice conversation piece but only worked a few days before coming loose and shorting out my handset. Now I screw the thing in nice and tight and then put a nut on the inside. Richard James Lewis
I use black rapid r7 straps on my Preston's. Swivel attachment helps with your issue. http://www.blackrapid.com/products/curve Rick.
Premium Members Ben Rowsell Posted December 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 15, 2013 Preston part held in by a nut with thread lock and a spring washer from the inside (of the handset). Stainless ball bearing swivel from a game fishing shop on the outside between the preston part and lanyard. These come with a small but very strong "key ring" to join them together. Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted December 15, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 15, 2013 I'm just wondering where in the deep recesses of my single channel unit my lock nut is living right now. What sized is that particular nut?
