Premium Members Lars Erik Posted July 2, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 2, 2014 Love the vest and see no need for any re-design. Passing judgment on a new product like this after 30 minutes of wear is pointless to me. It needs to be worn for a some days to completely understand it's use. I was too unsure after a few days of use with it. But will never go back to a regular vest now.
Jordan Keslow
For those of you who own the Exovest, what was the wait time when you placed the order? Curious to know as I am heavily considering one myself very soon. Aaron, I decided I was going to buy an Exovest in late May. After about a week of unreturned emails and phone calls to Tiffen, I finally got in contact with Dan Ikeda who is handling orders. He initially told me there was a 60 day delivery time but it would probably be sooner. I signed and returned the order form. I called Dan last week for any updates and he said it will be here late August/early September. It is slightly frustrating not knowing exactly when it will come, but I know it will be worth the wait :) Good Luck, Jordan
Rich Cornelius
Hi Chris, Thanks for getting back to me with your wisdom about this. I was really excited about the vest and wanted it to work and to be honest still do. I did visit tiffen to demo the vest before Robin and Dan kindly allowed me to test it. They did however both fit it for me so not sure how these problems arose. The vest was set up to latch on the left which it shouldn't as I a goofy operator, this was addressed but a timely fix on a Friday. I figured the new muscle strain would be manageable after a time working with the vest. It is very comfortable and easy to move around in the vest not to mention the fact it was very airy and I hardly sweated at all on a hot day. I'd defiantly take you up on a Skype fitting Chris! I am still very much interested in purchasing the vest but would definitely want to demo it again set up as it should be, before making a decision however the reports I've hear about vest and it's ability to easy strain and stress are surely something we should all be interesting in in terms of longevity not to mention its a UK product.... The only issue for me now is that Klassen are only producing the flex vest now and the price is very affordable. £2990 before delivery. Premium Members chris fawcett Posted July 2, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 2, 2014 Thanks for all your replies, it feels good to be back on this forum. Rich, That demo vest you tried has now been withdrawn until it can be updated. Hopefully you can try the finished version soon. I guess we'll hear from Tiffen soon when that will be. All the best, Chris
Rich Cornelius
Hey Chris, I was under the impression that that vest i had was a finished design as i only demoed it in April. Im going to pay Tiffen another visit to check the new rig so maybe I'll persuade them to demo me another newer vest. R
Premium Members chris fawcett Posted July 2, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 2, 2014 Rich, Both Robin and Danny are overseas somewhere, so I can't get the definite on that vest. I got the impression from Robin that it was not upgraded, but can't confirm that right now, sorry. All the best, Chris

Rich Cornelius
Yeah they're away that's right. From what Dan said that vest was brand spanking new and the R&D had come to an end. Did you see I on my site? I took a picture of it before I wore it. The also said they were off the shelf and had no lead time so not sure why some of you are still waiting... Premium Members chris fawcett Posted July 2, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 2, 2014 Rich, If it had cutouts on the underside of the waist over-centre lever, so you could slide your fingers underneath it to unlock it, then it was the last version. If that's the case, I'm really confused about the information i recieved from Robin. He'll hopefully comment once he's back from his trip. I'm off to Singapore now, but I'll try to keep tuned in to this thread. Chris
Rich Cornelius
Difficult to say for sure but have a look http://www.richardcornelius.com/blog/2014/4/15/exovest
Premium Members chris fawcett Posted July 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 3, 2014 Can't really tell. However, if you do try another demo, it will absolutely be the latest model. All others are being upgraded. Chris

Premium Members axel ebermann Posted August 5, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 5, 2014 Ok. Finally got my long awaited Exo Vest. Yeahhh... Literally just got it and I will obviously have to work with it for a couple of days before passing qualified judgement. However here is the first impression straight out of the box (compared to my Ultra2 vest): - Very easy to get in and out of the vest. Which is nice. Because now I can take the vest off more often. - Vest does not need a lot of time to 'settle'. I always felt with the Ultra two vest I couldn't just jump in and fly the rig. Had to put it on. Put weight on. Then it settled in the right places over the first shot. Which is why I was sometimes reluctant to take it off. - No chest compression. HEUREKA. What a relief that is. Collapsing your ribcage while operating a steadicam cannot be good for you - period. Definitely a feeling of new-found freedom. - The vest seems to put the weight where I like it. This might be different from operator to operator. But I put it on and immediately felt 'at home' in it. - I immediately felt that I was transferring less 'jiggle' from myself to the camera sled. Might be the slight swivel of the vest or that I am not strapped in that tightly anymore. - The vest is heavier than I thought. The Exo Vest also smells better than my old vest. However that might be only a temporary phenomenon... More to follow…. cheers axel
Premium Members James Davis Posted November 26, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 26, 2014 I'd love to let people know what my first impressions were IF IT EVER ACTUALLY TURNS UP!!! I've been waiting over 6 months now, my patience is wearing thin, I am so incredibly frustrated that apparently now i've been told it might not even turn up until the end of the year! After Demoing the vest several times I fell in love with what I think and still think is the greatest vest ever made, I would really like to receive mine and actually put it to work. I've been given several vague delivery dates, "It will be a couple of weeks, It will be here imminently" etc etc and nothing. But right now I am at the point where I have spent literally close to half the value of the vest in crosshire costs because I have refrained from buying another vest whilst waiting for this one to turn up....for over 6 months! What's happening Tiffen? Have you forgotten about your UK customers?
