I'm curious, For those of us that travel and have either the Pelican 1650, or 2950 or the SKB 2918 style case. In the case where your sled lives and travels... What else do you have in it? Working on foaming out my skb 2918 and just looking to see what other folks pack into that case. So far have the Sled, Monitor, set of T handled allens, set of 4 drivers, phillips ( 2 sizes) and slotted (2 sizes), camera plate, docking bracket, 3 arm posts, cable wallet.... still have some space. gonna weigh it and see where I'm at. Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted January 30, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 30, 2014 This is a really crappy photo but this is what I did for my Pro CineLive system using a double layer tray for the sled and batteries The arm is tucked inside the vest. I don't remember how much they weigh but somewhere around 62-65 lbs each. Crazy how much you can squeeze in there with a small sled and if you are willing to remove aks. Not sure I'd ever ship it like that but great for day calls. I want to get a custom foam setup for my Pro CineLive, but I don't want to rush it and then six months later wish I had done something differently. I have an old 1650 with pick and pluck that I never used. I thought if I sprayed it with Plasti-dip, it might hold up for a while until I figure things out. I plucked out a space for sled and monitor only and then sprayed a whole can on the foam. It didn't seem to make much difference .This was the first time I have ever used it on anything, so I wasn't sure what to expect. After a bit of You Tubing, I learned that if you put Elmers glue on the foam first, it seals it a bit and the plasti-dip isn't all soaked into the foam.I started with the Elmers, but when I ran out I switched to wood glue because that is what I had sitting in the garage.The wood glue doesn't dry as clear, so this isn't the most elegant solution.I sprayed it again with maybe a quarter of the can of the Plasti and it now seems substantially stronger. Elmers will get sticky if it gets wet again, so the Plasti dip should protect it :unsure: . Just did this yesterday, so it I have a black sticky mess in a couple of weeks I will post. There is a place in Miami called Empacol, they are in the Medley area. www.empacol.com 7010 N.W. 51 ST, Miami FL. 33166PH: (305) 594-4771 * FAX: (305) 594-4791 A 4x8 sheet of 1" thick Foam cost $37 out the door including Tax. I ask them to cut the sheet into as many 29x18 pieces as possible, that's free. Then buy 2 cans of 3M Super 77 Spray Glue, a face Mask, and a Dewalt 25mm Retractable blade utility knife, a roll of 1.21" Masking tape. Some quiet time at home with the ingredients..... and..... A several year old case with the prolite (now Prolite HD with Transvideo HD6 monitor) or the most recent foam work. and with the Sled in it. PS, don't worry I am switching the post to the post that is 1.5" shorter to accomidate some close cell foam above and below the Sled. And matching Allens will arrive tomorrow. I am thinking of sending the empty CineLive case to the folks at CinemaOxide so they can replicate the foam in solid thicker chunks and make one of of their Composite top layers with graphics indicating specific parts and pieces to make it easier for AC's. Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted February 4, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 4, 2014 Thanks for that Rob, you reminded me of a few things to make cut outs for and to pack in the small clear top Pelicans that are in there, the Return Monitor, scissors, a short stubby Flathead, and I just figured out how to get 2 HC's in there. Should still be under 70lbs... Remember I climb up and down 1.5 flights with these things for every job. The 2nd case will get the Arm, Vest, 4 other HC's BFD's, Motors, etc..and a charger.
