Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted February 14, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 Jarrett, Thanks for pointing that out. I've seen the Panavision, but I seem to recall that it made the camera sit a lot higher but I may be mistaken as I have never actually used it (I didn't realize it dropped right into the D-Box). I always yank all the Pana-gak off an Alexa and use my own stuff.
Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted February 14, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 Alec,Fair enough! I didn't like it enough for me to use it on future shows. I will use my own from now on. It worked well enough, but was a pain to get on and off.
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted February 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 So how thick are they?
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted February 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 Same as regular XCS plates, I believe
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted February 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 Oh wow. I thought they didn't raise the camera? PRO plates are about as flush as you can get with the top of the DBox. If they're as thick as XCS, then they raise the camera a half inch.

Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted February 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 http://www.cameragak.com/products/61-ARRI-Alexa-Steadicam-Baseplate/ this is problably as low profile as it get's, BUT you have to take the camera out of the D-Box to adjust the side to side, unlike Eric's plate
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted February 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 What's your point Afton? Just trying to get a better idea of how it works and performs, that's all. Your original post says the plate does not raise the camera. That's not true.
Premium Members Dan Ayers Posted July 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 9, 2014 Has anyone used the plates yet? How far forward will they allow you to move the camera? I've been having all kinds of problems with Alexa's having the balance all over the place.
