Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted February 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 Alrighty folks they are here. Alexa to Pro style Dovetail. These don't raise the camera yet provide almost 2" of side to side adjustment while mounted to the DBox. Available on Film-stuff.com in both the long version you see here (Perfect for 19-90 zooms) and a shorter version for Primes. Long version Price is $650 with the Primes version going for $
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted February 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 Just curios Eric, why do you think you need the side to side adjustment? I have never had an Alexa that wasn't close to being balanced down the center. And why not cut the top stage/PRO plate side angle right into the plate so as to eliminate the need for the extra plate? (I think I know the answer to that: compatibility issues). And can one attach 15mm rods to the front?
Premium Members chris bangma Posted February 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 Lawrence, the plate does have the dovetail, so it will mount directly to the steadicam, with no other plate needed. The extra threaded holes were added so the plate could have other uses as well.
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted February 11, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 It is a pro plate. 15mm rods go in the body, and yes I've needed side to side since I like to run my DBox centered
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted February 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 Is the rear tie-down screw adjustable in height, allowing it to work with an Alexa Studio (which doesn't have rod mounts, by the way)? Premium Members Thomas English Posted February 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 Why do you like your D box centred? What difference does it make?

Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted February 13, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted February 13, 2014 I just checked this out today and it is very well done. To my knowledge, it is the only one plate solution for the Alexa since it has the adapter built in and mounts directly to the D-Box. I, too, like to keep my D-Box roughly centered so any weird accessories or changes never threaten your side-to-side needs. I have found myself with only a turn or two left with the Alexa so this could certainly come in handy. Well done. I'm looking forward to trying it! Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted February 14, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 Just to clarify Alec, the panavision Alexa plate is all in one as well (I used it on my last panavision show).Though it is a bit hard to tie down, it works well and drops right into the DB. Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted February 14, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 Except Jarrett the panavision plate is side to side adjustable while mounted on the Dbox and the dovetail is machined slightly undersized
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted February 14, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 What are the dimensions?
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted February 14, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2014 10.25 for the short and 12.25 for the long one

It looks to be easier to install. I was just mentioning that there is an all in one version from Panavision. I didn't have any problems with size on the one I used; locked down just fine...
