Premium Members Andre Trudel Posted March 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) My sled is a pro 2 with Rig engineering’s Battery hanger. The rig measures 29” with the post fully collapsed. My only pelican option seems to be a Pelican 1690 with an interior length measurement of 30.01”. Do you think half an inch on each side of the sled is enough protection? Does anyone else have this set up? What would you get? What about travel issues. Thanks. Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted March 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 many people have gone really big and gotten the Pelican 1730 case. Gives you several inches all around. Big ass case though.
Premium Members Andre Trudel Posted March 11, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 Jamie, The Peli 1730 is just way too big. I may just go with the 1690 until I have to fly with the rig.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted March 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 just take the battery hanger off , takes 10 seconds, when you fly and use a soft case for your daily use... http://www.fikenca.com/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=category&id=11:steadi-cam&Itemid=5 they made a custom case for me.... Premium Members James Puli Posted March 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2014 My sleds have always travelled in custom made and foamed out cases. I much preferred them as I was never happy with the way my sled fitted in a Pelican style case. In the case is the sled, monitor, hill docking bracket and an area for some cables and dovetail plates. Probably a bit more expensive, but happy to pay the price to have it perfect for how I work!
Premium Members Andre Perron SOC Posted March 12, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 12, 2014 Your case doesn't need to be that deep; take a look at the Pelican 1700: http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1700
Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted March 12, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 12, 2014 Go to Anvil or Thermodine they both have cases that can accommodate perfectly Or customize

Premium Members Thomas English Posted March 13, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 13, 2014 I agree with everything said in the above thread but I also think that half an inch is enough protection. It is tight but I think it is enough.
