Premium Members Lars Erik Posted May 12, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 12, 2014 Really didn't know where to put this thread, but trying it out here. I'm looking into in buying a clamp-on matte box. It must have at least room for 2 filters, and they must be 4x5.6. Did look at the Birns & Sawyer one. But have no experience with them whatsoever. Anybody used it before? Have any other tips? I know Arri's line is probably the best, but if one is lower in price and does the same job... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/843576-REG/Birns_Sawyer_211404_MB_114_3_STG_4x5_65_CLAMP_ON.html
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted May 12, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 12, 2014 I have an O'Connor O-box, but it is a tad on the heavy side for it's functionality. I have heard some good things about the Bright Tangerine products: http://www.brighttangerine.com/category/matte-box/
Brad Smith
I second what Charles said check out the Bright Tangerine. The misfit fits exactly what you're looking for. I've got a Viv 5", and I love it. Great build quality and design.

Premium Members axel ebermann Posted May 12, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 12, 2014 I've got a three stage Bright Tangerine Misfit and I am loving it. Super light weight, just works, has an extra little rail you can get for mounting your cinetape on top of the matte box. And they even make an easily attachable swing-away arm if you ever want to use the matte box that way. customer support is incredible. whenever I email them I usually get a response within an hour. Caitlyn Timberlake
I have the Birns and Sawyer one. I've found that some older thicker filters don't fit (mitchel diffusion, 80A, some glimmer glass). I think it's mostly due to it being a trayless system that the filters just slide into. I'm getting ready to take mine apart and see what I can do to make sure it accommodates all 4x5 filters.
