V2 Gimbal first impression

Hello out there..!

I just got my V2 gimbal the other day... had a few spins with it but no working situation

yet. First impression is good though...

My background is a master film gimbal, and then the "standard" MK-V gimbal.

First impression when opening the package and holding it is good craftsmanship. All metalwork is very nice. Its a bit bigger than the standard gimbal ( I also have a thicker post ) and the handle is somewhat longer that I´we been used to. A special feature to this gimbal-by the way, is that you can change the handle after your own specs..... haven´t tried that yet though.....

Mk-V stated that there should be no play in any axis.... and this is.......true..!

When doing the dynamic balance, there were no funny noises or any friction felt what

so ever... ( might just be me but I sometimes been a bit worried when small shreats of metal dropped to the floor, when I adjusted the drop time.... ;-)

I think that this gimbal should be the standard gimbal on the MK-V (no offense Howard)

because In my opinion it is a much better construction than the standard model.

:-)

- wery good design / craftsmanship

- No play

- No friction

- good grip.

- very "neutral" in all positions.

:-(

- handle is a bit long...takes a little getting used to.

- Insertion to armpost is shorter, gimbal ends up a bit higher on the arm

( in connection with monitor view..)

I will return with pictures and more feedback when I have tested it "live"

Best regards

Got to agree with you, it's a very sweet spinner!

I tried it out last week for a few days and it's just so smooth, like panning through velvet.

Currently saving up to buy one (made some enemies with my local bank so I've got to pay for it out of my own pocket...bummer, it's still not cheap) and can recommend it to everyone looking for alternatives for a new gimbal.

I had to practise my whip pans a lot because it takes less effort to stop the pan, after being used to a IIIa style gimbal (where I had to use more pressure to stop) I'd grip the V2 too hard to stop, f*cking it up...that took a little getting used to.

As far as the long handle is concerned, I was a bit put off by this at first but after thinking about it and playing with it for a while it's actually a very cool feature.

It actually creates a large amount of clearance allowing you to have a better view of the monitor at all times (especially in switches and don juan).

It's also a very rigid little thing, no play whatsoever no matter how hard you yank it around.

All in all I really like it and I look forward to trying it in production

Keep me posted how you fare with it Flemming.
