PAG Stackable Gold Mount Batteries

Has anyone used the New PAG batteries with Gold mounts?

The piggy back function could lead to very cool mounting options for recorders and gyros.

Not to mention stacking batteries that need charging although I think the charge time simply increases when you stack the batteries.

Anyone have any experience with these pricey batts?

I was intrigued when I saw these at NAB but there was enough slop when the batteries were stacked to eliminate the kind of use you are talking about.

Hi Andrew. I know of what you speak. I've used soft side Velcro to remove the slop out of Boxx Meridians and Batteriies on Gold Mounts.

Could this be one of those scenario's?

Coming back to this thread six months or so later...

 

Ramon, the slop was pretty wild when you had more than two stacked. Even a one or two piggybacked would turn off most if not all operators, unless you can cope with stuff moving around on your sled. Mind you, as I mentioned, this was noted at NAB when properly over a thousand people had laid their mitts on this stack of batteries and was pushing it around. Even so, the casing material did not seem to be particularly hard. Not sure if a velcro wedge would do the trick. The slop gets worse over time. I checked out the stack of batteries several times over the 2 days I was on the NAB floor and the movement got noticeably worse.

 

It's a great concept, the idea of being able to stack batteries to charge which is one of the primary intents of this design but I wouldn't stack them on a steadicam sled, no way. Having said that the operators I know are disciplined in charging their batteries so I am not sure if many here would be taken by the stacking concept other than extenuating circumstances.

 

Clemens, you probably would have the ability to see these batteries demoed at a trade show in Europe in the near future. I also think PAG has some demonstration videos up if you are keen on this product.

I use Bauer batteries (Dionic 90, 160 and HC). In September, 2014 I bought in London two batteries PAGlink HC-PL94T Model 9306 on the test. I use them within half a year (I have usually 150-180 working days in a year) and here my opinion:
1. Full compatibility with my Dual 2722 charger. On the display all information of the battery is displayed ( model information, serial number, date of manufacture, number of cycles, Etc).
2. Unfortunately impossible to connect the PAG and Dionic battery or a recorder together. Between PAG batteries is installed the new lock and additional contact for data exchange. The lock has no side play and vibrations.
3. The weight of the Dionic 90 is equal to PAG weight, and two batteries PAG is almost equal to one Dionic 160. It is very convenient for my stabilizer.
4. The housing material is very strong and contacts on a back of the battery aren't damaged.
5. I have no information about manufacturers of sells within PAG batteries, but batteries are very well hold a charge on the cold (the "russian winter"). And of course, batteries new, I know.


I want to buy two more pieces of PAG batteries on substitute to my old Dionic 90, it expensively but it is my choice.

I've been using these batteries since August. I love them. They are the perfect platform to mount my Samurai. The read out is simple and the stackable charging function is fantastic. There's little to no play in the mounts and the material is super strong.

The only issue I've had is that individual AB charger ports have shut down and required rebooting(unplugging the charger). But it's never become a consistent issue.

I'd give them an A++.
