Weight Plate for Transvideo RainbowHD7

I just finished a prototype of a small weight plate for the Transvideo RainbowHD7 and RainbowHD7 SBL.

I've been using the RainbowHD7 SBL for a little while now and love it particularly for a light running rig, but I've run into a few set ups where it helps to have just a little more weight out in front of the sled. So here is a plate to do simply that.

This plate bolts directly to the back of the monitor using Transvideo's locating pins and a 1/4-20 screw. The pins hold it off of the monitor so the monitor still has air flow for cooling. It is centered vertically and horizontally on the monitor to keep the balance centered on a yoke. The bottom of the plate is even with the top of the 4-pin xlr connector, so if you are using a right angle plug it can still fit along the bottom of the monitor under the plate. It is machined out of brass for compact weight and weighs in at 1.25lbs.

I'm posting this to see if there are any operators using one of these monitors who would be interested in one of these weight plates. I don't have pricing worked out yet, just seeing if there would be enough interest to look into setting up a short run of them.

Before moving on a rainbow HD I used to fly with a rainbow sd

and now I feel more confortable adding that new weight for medium and heavy configuration.

I do not know, may be that more weight will be even better

Sorry I could not compare the two monitor on the field

but for the specs :

rainbow HDSBL + Thomas weight plate = 1290 gr

cinemonitor 6"HDSBL 1000NITS = 1420 gr

Gregory so do yuo the Tomas weigth? Good to know.

Today i received a transvideo Classic from a friend and im going to test it with my rig in monday The strange thing is that the real weight is 1,270 kg, is not 1420 as the specifich in the transvideo web side.

Next week i hope to compare with the rainbow hd wich a friend of mine from a rental company gas one. I let yuo know and il do some pictutes

Gregory, thanks for the post. Glad it's been working for you.

Emiliano and Andrew, I don't have any ready to ship at the moment. I've been making a couple of them as people want them. They are $350 plus shipping.

In regards to the weight, I did start out with a heavier one, 1.83lbs making a RainbowHD SBL 3.55lbs. The problem was it was too long and prevented a 90 degree xlr from nesting along the bottom of the monitor. So when using the monitor with a yoke the xlr would stick off the the side and interfere with tilting the monitor. If the yoke was a tight fit a straight xlr would interfere as well. I can still make the larger version if someone really needs the additional .5lbs. I'll try to post a picture of it soon.

I like the rainbow hd but unfortunstely i didn t use in the sun because i was shoiting int day

I have a question: is it possible to move the level

In the bottom when is in body rig? Im not sure if i put a hood i can see it.

ComparingThe classic 6" and shooting whit red 2:239 the image is so little, but i like the frame line abd the level on the bottom.

Whic kind of yoke do u suggest? Thanks emi

Emiliano, I've looked through the settings on my monitor and I can't find a way to move the on screen level from the top to the bottom of the monitor. Maybe a future firmware upgrade will give that option.

At the moment I'm using a spigot and transvideo clamp that connects to their slide system. So I can't give a recommendation on the yoke. The Transvideo yoke looks nice and can be made to connect to a variety of rods, but I haven't personally used it yet.

I have a couple more weight plates made up if anyone needs one. I tried out a new powder coat for a slightly different look.
