Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted September 10, 2014 Moderators Report Share Posted September 10, 2014 Do you have the level plugged in? If so, try unplugging it and see if it boots up. If that is the case, contact Chris (or if its not the case!).
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted September 10, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 10, 2014 Does the screen ever come up and turn blue, or does it simply stay with a black screen and no key light? If the screen stays black, but the keys don't light up, it might (for some reason) be going to the software upgrade standby screen. Normally, you get to that by pressing MENU and POWER at the same time. The screen turns on, stays black, and nothing else powers up. If you're simply pressing the power button, it may be reading input from the MENU button for some reason (other people have reported the keypad misbehaving with unintended input, etc). Do you have an alternative power method? If you have the battery backing plate, try powering it from just a battery and see if it comes on? Premium Members Afton Grant Posted September 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 11, 2014 Look closely - do you see a very faint image by any chance? When I had mine, a number of times the backlight would fail, leaving the monitor on and a picture up, but was almost completely black unless you looked very closely. I never found a sure way to fix it. Power on and off a bunch of times... played with the menus... pushed random buttons.... prayed. Eventually it would come back to normal. Don't know if that's for sure what's wrong with yours, but it's a possibility.
Mark Baluk
With regards to the backlight: I don't have experience with the Cinetronic, but if it is the culprit as Afton suggests it may be then shining a bright flash light at the screen might help you see the image on the display and diagnose that problem. Premium Members Sydney Seeber Posted October 6, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 6, 2014 Had the same problem. Something had worked its way loose inside of the housing, I brought it by and they fixed it.
Premium Members Tammy Jones Posted October 8, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 8, 2014 For me, I had to reinstall the firmware update then punch a bunch of buttons to put the monitor back to factory reset, then a firmware update again, repeat. And finally I got an image again. Unfortunately, it happened while I was out of town so it wasn't an easy fix as I had to track down someone with a PC and a computer degree. Chris should be able to talk you thru it.
