Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted September 29, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 Once our exclusivity expired on our co-developed RF board, it was turned into a reference design that Amimon can sell to competitors. I'm not trying to pick on you, but What was the exclusivity, 6 months? Sounds like a raw deal for something that was jointly developed. However, the true value is in the FPGA and not necessarily the RF board. As mentioned earlier, the FPGA will remain unique to only Teradek. If I get more info tomorrow ill be sure to share it. Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted September 29, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 Hey Mike. I just want to make it clear that I appreciate you speaking with us on this board, and I don't mean for my comments and questions to come off in a negative way. I'm a techie as everyone who knows me is aware of, and I'm genuinely interested in the tech.
Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted September 29, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 I have been using the Bolt 600. The DIT on my last job loved it, and I like the fact that I can put it anywhere on my sled or camera. It's also smaller then the Boxx. I have no complaints. Premium Members Lars Erik Posted September 29, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 I have the Boxx Meridian. Before that the Boxx SD version. Love it. It kicks ass and I have NEVER been afraid that it fails. It just works. That's what your gear should do.
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted September 29, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 29, 2014 We've been having issues with our Boxx where signal would come and go. Also I ran into the issue where the transmitter and receiver would be on a different frequency when I power them up (it could possibly be a human error as we share the studio with multiple crews). Jeffery Yang
For professional transmitters, if it can support all the functions in the following, I guess people will choose without hesitance: 1. Long distance and low latency or Zero latency. 2. PSF 3. DSF 3. Multicast 4. Possible for directional antenna 5. Possible for different battery types
Premium Members JobScholtze Posted October 5, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 5, 2014 Last week we had problems during a liveshow. For some reason the expensive thompson ldl 8000 wireless gave problems. I slapped my terradek bolt on my camera and dropped the receiver on my ac's table. Hardwire to the cameratruck and that saved the broadcast/. Funny though. My relative cheap system outperformed a 100k system. Love that thing. ( we own 2 becose the brake down once in a while ) mostly power issues
Hadi Ashrafian
I saw that...pretty cool and about time. Hope the performance really matches it's big bro Hey Ron, We experienced some great results at IBC demoing this prototype. Still in early stages but so far it has a 30% improvement rate range wise. Working on getting this out to you guys in the new year.

Hey Victor, We have just joined the Forum so apologies for the late response. Should you have any issues in future feel free to contact me at support@boxx.tv. In relation to this problem, I would recommend a master reset which should resolve the issue and do not use auto channel.
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted November 10, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 10, 2014 If anyone is interested in trying out a Paralinx Tomahawk SDI, I have one here in LA. Come take a look, or rent it from me.

Premium Members Matt Moriarty Posted November 23, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 23, 2014 I had great luck with my big, ugly Boxx Meridian for 3 years and only a few months ago switched to Paralinx HDSDI Tomahawk. Couldn't be happier. I did a simultaneous comparison during the prep with Boxx and the Bolt 300 (which my assistant friend uses near his Preston handset) and every unit worked as advertised. The little Bolt broke up at about one quarter the distance of the Boxx/Tomahawk. The Boxx and Tomahawk broke up at almost exactly the same distance (and through a large concrete wall) and both recovered on the way back to the receivers again at almost the same point. The assistants I'm working with own a lot of gear and they're all about to go Tomahawk based on our experience so far. Weight, price and simplicity are major factors in my happiness with the Tomahawk, which I bought through my friends at AbelCine. I have no idea what their customer service is like because I haven't had to deal with Paralinx yet in six weeks of shooting. Incidentally, I was about to buy the BoltPro2000 but pulled my order at the last minute when Teradek jerked me around on the delivery date after sitting on my deposit for a month. Most importantly, Paralinx, as of this writing, is not owned by VITEC (which I consider to be a LARGE VAMPIRE SQUID that systematically buys up every good company we have in our industry and sucks every last drop of goodness out of them), while Teradek is owned by VITEC. When I have the time, I will post the sordid details of my laughably, tragically, preposterously ludicrous recent experience with Anton Bauer, which used to be one of our great companies and is now just another sad chapter in the VITEC takeover story. Stay tuned for that. I promise it will be very entertaining. (Attached is a photo of Red Epic with all three xmitters aboard. You can see receivers in the bg.) Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted November 23, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 23, 2014 I feel like your transmitters are a bit to close to each other and may interfere with each other to do a real simultaneous test, unless you try them one by one.

We need to support the small businesses in or industry! Enough with corporate bait and switch!
