Premium Members Alfeo Dixon SOC Posted October 17, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 17, 2014 Heard about a cheese plate on the bottom of the Amira so I asked at the camera house, what they had was the UAP-2 which was designed for the top, it actually lets you loose the shoulder bracket and mount directly to the bottom of the camera... and it slides also. You'll just need to remove the handle to the UAP-2 (left on in the picture just to check if it worked) Also, the 15mm lightweight rods align perfectly with the cameras optical center for matte boxes Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For example could you leave it permenantly mounted to a dovetail in the topstage, so that with a clip-on matte box you could come on and off of Steadicam nice and quickly? Ive never had a chance to see it in my town. anyone has any exp with that ? is it a lot heavier than BPA-1? btw, newbie question tho, what is that Hirose or bnc connector on the lens mount of Amira for ? Premium Members James Davis Posted October 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 18, 2014 I've seen and used the UAP-1 it's alright Shawn, but I think there are much better options that drop straight into the topstage of your Steadicam, such as the Camtec plate from Baer Bel which works with a whole variety of cameras as well as the Alexa, the Film Stuff Alexa plate, The Optical Support Alexa plate etc... Premium Members James Davis Posted October 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 18, 2014 My personal favourite is the Camtec plate because of it's versatility, it has so many great options including the ability to attach a lightweight 19mm rod mount up front to which you can fit matte boxes, lens supports etc which can get you out of a lot of awkward situations where you might have ordinarily had to attach a heavy bulky bridge plate plus dovetail. I had several sets of 19mm carbon fibre rods made up to use with it as well and it works beautifully in a variety of situations. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yes, but not sure if its a bi-directional release... its a pull pin and sliding base, just like the shoulder mount and the top handle. I didn't fly this way so I don't know the answer to this.
