Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted December 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 4, 2014 I had a job recently that I was wanting for more bottom weight so I wouldn't have to extend my post quite as far (an issue I have run into a couple of time since switching from the green screen to the cinetronic). I only have 90 wh batteries. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with flying a shark fin on the bottom stage and doubling up batteries rather than flying a bigger battery? It may be a terrible idea though. But an idea nonetheless.
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted December 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 4, 2014 I had the same problem when first going to lcd's . Tried using ab hotswap but it weighs a pound and is too wide for my taste. I went with dionic 160's. They are a good weight and have a slightly smaller footprint than the hc-90 (just taller). They are pricey, but basically two hc-90's in one batt. If the width doesn't bother you, the hot swap will work fine
Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted December 4, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 4, 2014 The width very well could be a problem. I will try and grab one from a rental house to try it on a show before I buy one. The HCXs or dionic 160s make more sense. Thanks for the tip!I hope things are going well, it has been awhile! Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted December 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 4, 2014 The bigger batts are awesome but kinda pricey. Mineare still be going strong after 4.5 yrs of series TV...wish my body and soul would hold up as well
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted December 18, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 18, 2014 Would anyone be interested in a weight plate that would mount onto a battery plate? I could water-jet cut a slab of steel to be the same footprint as a battery plate, then put a male on one side and female on the other to allow a battery to mount on it. Premium Members Quaid Cde Baca Posted January 8, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 8, 2015 I fly with a shark fin running and powering 2 gold mounts on the rear for heavier builds and it power and balances great, no issue.
