Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted March 19, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2015 That is an emergency release. If it is set up properly the operator can "eject" from the rig. It is a safety feature when working near water or other dangerous environments. I believe only some Tiffen vests have them. I know the pro and WK do not.
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 19, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2015 Yes, when you pull the handle located on your right shoulder, it pulls the velcro pads in your back and releases you from the rig. Your whole rig will then instantly fall to the ground. I forgot how many times it was really used in emergency, I think 2 or 3 times, but that means 2 or 3 people are still alive.
