Premium Members William Demeritt Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 Strange, most of the directors I know think of the "60-70 people on set" as helping him/her achieve their vision, not blocking it. Maybe this dude just has issues with getting people to work with him?
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 Well if you pay people a "movi" rate everyone around you is a cotton ball/film student. About the MIMIC, I see the thing more on a fluid head than is someone's hands. Why would you hand hold a device that's supposed to remove the hand held feeling. Premium Members William Demeritt Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 Ok so who's going to visit their booth at NAB and discuss this video?
Premium Members Libor Cevelik Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 This guy just called the entire camera department "cotton balls" between the director and his vision not just the camera department the whole crew ..... :o
Premium Members Robert G. Christman Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 and it would be cool if he jumped off the end of the dock...
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 This is how you turn every single of your clients into enemies with two simple words.
Premium Members Michael Hauer Posted April 13, 2015 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 Libor that's true. He doesn't discriminate here and disrespects the whole crew. Can we run with this and make cotton ball t-shirts?
Premium Members Grayson Austin Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 I can think of two words. The first word starts with a "D". The second word is Bag. His "creative vision" when he used the Mimic for that running shot perfectly mimicked a turd. Grayson Grant Austin, SOC
Premium Members Grayson Austin Posted April 13, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 Oh and I almost forgot. The Mimic is not the first product to market to do this function. The Hurricane Wheels control box could already do that although not as mobile or compact but was more appropriate for fluid head mounting. If I were running FreeFly, I would distance my company from that guy before an angry mob of cotton balls showed up at the door with pitchforks and torches... Moderators Louis Puli SOC Posted April 13, 2015 Moderators Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 Typical attitude of these type of people who have never been on a real set with any budget . What did they say last NAB "Steadicam was dead" What a D bag .

Premium Members GrantCulwell Posted April 14, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 14, 2015 We've just been referred to as: "in a nut shell, this is removing the barriers (the crew) for creators (douchebags) to get the shot that they want"... "you have 60, 70 people on set... I get it, I get the tradition." "we can reduce some of the cotton balls between the director and the final shot..." Sooooo, I am apparently a barrier to creativity; my job is only in honor of tradition, and I'm a cotton ball (still don't know what that means). What the heck was FreeFly thinking in releasing this? Great marketing call there Movi team. For those out at NAB, I'd love to hear what FreeFly has to say about this video.
