Kevin Gallagher
I have a brand new Heden Carat FF and really enjoy using it. My only gripe is that when powered down it still draws enough juice to totally drain the internal 9v battery in the handset. This means that I have to constantly remove and replace the battery which involves putting strain on those small connecting wires. Anyone else have this happening? thanks Kevin
MagnusBalte
Hello Kevin, Please use rechargeable Li-Ion or Li-Po 9V cells. Beachtek makes 700mah that last a full shooting day or more. Std alkaline will only last for 1-3 hours depending on type. Best regards, Magnus Balte Heden Engineering Co.
Kevin Gallagher
Hi Magnus, My concern is not with runtime. That is fine. It is with constant power draw even with the handset completely turned off. Can you address that? thanks Kevin
MagnusBalte
Hello Kevin, If the hand unit is switched off it should not drain the battery at all. Could you please email the serialnr of your hand unit at magnus@heden-engineering.com Best, Magnus
Kevin Gallagher
Well, color me red in the face. It appears I am dealing with a potential bad batch of ProCell batts. Thank you Magnus for your attention. I'll look into the rechargeables you recommended. humbly, Kevin
Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted April 28, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 28, 2015 Kevin, Lots if us are dealing with the same thing, not draining while turned off but the batteries not lasting longer than half a day . I haven't tried rechargeable yet but all the ACs I told about this all said the rechargeables are worse. Lithium seem to be the best bet so far for me
Premium Members Kyle Wullschleger Posted April 29, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 29, 2015 Both units I've used drain the batteries when it's turned off. Using lithium ion rechargeable that seem to last almost a full day.
Premium Members Benjamin Verhulst Posted May 4, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 4, 2015 +1 on LiOn Rechargeables - they last me almost all day.
Nat Brunt
I use ipowerus 520mah rechargeables. They last about 5-6 hours, which is reasonable. I do worry about the 9v connectors becoming dodgy and occasionally have to tighten the connectors if it doesn't power back up after a battery change but it seems like it would be fairly easy to replace should it fail.
