WiFi Video Transmitter

Has anyone used the Coherent video transmitter system? I found it as I was doing a little more research. I don't think I was to spend $4,000USD on the CanaTrans, but the Coherent is around $3,000 (or if someone is selling their Modulus3000, I may be interested.)

Dave,

The coherent's were the cat's meow back in the day but no longer. Save yourself the heartache and buy the Canatrans.

I am very happy that I just got rid of my Modulus just so that I never have to deal with Peter Spinelli, he's just slightly better than Steve Bryo

Your SO right about this Eric.

You made me get the Canatrans, and i am SO happy with it. A few weeks after i received the unit, i received a email from Emery if things worked alright for me and if i was happy with it. Well, i am. And with his "care" for his customers. A++++

Now just get rid of my modulus. it works fine, but as you say, no backup

Hi Guys!

Has Somebody already buy BOXX? I am afraid of a situation... (http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...4&hl=benz&st=15)

I plan to arrive in London after January, 15th and I ready to buy it. Is BOXX in stock?

All the best.

Evgeniy

Can somebody answer?

Hi Evgeniy,

I'm afraid you'll have to wait one more month, they are still working on the firmware...

THE-BOXX is now shipping.

We have finalised the new firmware and now you can operate anywhere in the world legally!!

The boxx now operates on 2.4Ghz AND 5Ghz.

Beware are other digital systems that only use 5Ghz. In most EU counties, 5.2Ghz can only be used indoors. 2.4Ghz can be used anywhere.

Please contact me on +44 207 284 1888 for more info.

I tried the IDX VideoWave TX/RX system on a commercial on friday.

I was not keen on the way when it glitches it freezes for a full 3-4 seconds! with no hint of what the image is doing, Which can be half the shot.

It certainly is not geared up for film work but must be great for shooting on tape. As you can see from the image I had to attach it to my batteries on the bottom of my sled. (lack of 4pinxlr power), although you could easily get a 4pinxlr-V-Lock cable. It glitched an awful lot when placed at the bottom of my sled at a distance of 20 meters (running shot coming in and out of DonJuan repeatedly), we were not able to watch back any of the takes properly (3-4 second freezes everywhere) making it completely unusable on this job. I changed back to my heath robinson 1Watt 2.4Ghz system that worked fine (also TX at bottom of sled).

I would like to try it again on the back of a 750 or varicam in the way it was designed to work. It may have worked flawlessly if it had been at the top of the sled.

For now I am going to continue working on my onboard recorder. If they want to see a perfect vision take, we can play it back. It definately has applications but I am very much unconvinced for steadicam monitoring for film jobs in its present state.

A big thanks to Endura for letting me demo it and also for selling me some fantastic battery adaptor plates that I have been hunting for everywhere.

I received "the-boxx" a few days ago, which is another new wifi video transmitter.

I was very impressed with the picture quality, as long as you stay in range of course. It's hard to tell that it's wireless. Nothing to do with any analog transmitter I've seen so far.

Downside is the ~500ms delay. But I really think, that the hudge improvement in picture quality should make it acceptable in a lot of situations.

I've only made a few tests so far, but I'll try to post a more extensive review once I've spent some more time using it...

Anyway, first impression is very positive.

Nils.

Has anyone else used the new wifi system "The-Boxx" I am looking at buying this system and would like some more feedback before I drop that much cash.....

I know it has half-second delay which I'm willing to work around, to get the great picture quality.

The-Boxx

Thanks,

Chris "need a wireless system" Konash
