Paul Lindqvist Posted May 1, 2015 Report Share Posted May 1, 2015 Hi! I'v just recently got the Steadicam Solo w. arm & vest. I'm a newbie and only used handheld knock off's in the past. I have no problem balancing the sled, but i have a few question on how to set up the arm properly. What is the proper way to setup the arm ? What i do now is that i adjust the arm so that it's still in front of me, and then mount the sled. It works quite we'll, but when moving left and right the arm wants to get away from me. Is this normal and something i should just "counterbalance" with my hips ? Any input much appreciated! (I have the efp dvd and the operators handbook on order) Regards Paul L. Basically you need to adjust the angle of the arm using the in/out and left/right threads at the socket block to make sure the arm post is vertical when you're wearing it, otherwise the sled will drop away from you. You should adjust these until the sled floats in the sweet spot next to your hips when standing up straight. Make those fore-aft and side-to-side adjustments looking in a mirror, to ensure you are standing upright when you set the float point of the rig.
