D-tap P-tap

I ordered my Steadicam Pilot HD Sdi. Trying to find out more of what I will need. I did order the VL and am Thinking on the IDX Duo 95 battery to start and charger. I want to power my Z-100 and possibly a wireless Lavalier or Video Trans (Paralinx) Arrow. Don't know much about the difference in the taps if there is one (D or P) I will probably have to make my own cables to power my Z100 right? Thanks

If you can run power through the sled, then yes you will likely need to create your own cables for:

camera

monitor

wireless tx

follow focus (for other cameras)

if you have any 12/24v output (lemo? hirose?) atop the sled, you can make a lemo to p-tap breakout in order to power aks like wireless, lav, fiz, etc. some wireless companies (eg teradek) sell (expensive) cables that will power their unit from p-tap, but if you can make your own, go for it. if you are in california and are looking for an economical solution try mediablackout (alan rencher). if you want to spend top dollar, get terry west's info.

if your monitor has a battery plate, you can use that if it wont make the bottom of the sled too heavy.

it may be worth it to power your camera off the sony batteries and power your sled and aks off the IDX. then your monitor and aks will last alllll day off maybe just one battery. i like to buy used batteries, refurbished by john ritter. highly recommend him.

both mediablackout and ritter have banners on the rite -->

i definitely recommend having a p-tap splitter made for your upper junction box (if there is one on your sled) so power your goodies.

victor is correct about D/P tap
