A few departments were getting a raw deal. Now we're striking. 51 Minds is trying their best to scab the show. I just wanted to let you guys know. I'm sure some of you will get calls. I would politely ask you all to not fall into their scab calls. We all out on the line would appreciate the solidarity. Thank you all! You PM'd me asking why I ask such silly things publicly (my name is Afton, not Aston, btw). The answer is your original post was public. This is a community forum. It's what we do. I was merely asking for clarification. I found your initial post a little unclear so before I responded to it directly I wanted to make sure I had everything straight. This would be to the benefit of the rest of the forum. I apologize, but I don't know you. I don't know if you're a union member or a newbie. I don't know this show. You've worked on it for four seasons. I don't see it to be too outrageous for me to think that perhaps you're not a union member. I guess it just confused me that you were taking such a hard union stance (striking, calling out scabs) after having worked on this non union show for so long. And I'm not being judgmental - we all do non union work here and there. Also, to address your final question, I didn't move your post. Someone else did. But I do agree with where it was filed. I am also the one who moved the post as I consider all topics about the Union (or Agents) to fall under "Business Practices." Frankly, we have so many categories that almost nothing belongs in "General Discussion" (and in fact, I move almost all posts away from this category). Thank you for supporting the Union. Good luck. You know picket line, I think it's a bit obvious what was meant. If I was picketing along with everyone I wouldn't want the show to stay non union. I do know your name is Afton... If you type it into an iPhone it wants to auto correct to Aston. Sorry about that. Moving something like this to the legal category is burying it because its not an often visited section comparitively. We politely point out your message is unclear and that you don't give its subject matter any thought and you default to the lazy "General Discussion" catagory and then you get an attitude! All categories are read if you are an active participant on this forum when you hit "view new posts." Again, we volunteer our time to moderate this Forum and be clerical workers. Sorry you don't agree with our filing, but you obviously didn't take any time to consider where you were putting it (or to phrase your verbiage). Then you take it out on us? There is no conspiracy theory here; we are all strong Union supporters (and I've been a member for almost twenty years). Not trying to "bury" anything. I quickly personal messaged her and asked if this was for Broken Skull Ranch, they replied that they didn't know it was a relay for a friend. I didn't think " General" was lazy either. Just the most traffic for something that is happening at the moment. Sorry I've never used the view new posts. It's seems like a nice way to see everything. I've posted on this forum for years. So this wasn't my first post and I'm a sustaining member. Thanks Rob! 51 Minds is pretty stubborn but now they've been deem unfair because of some things that happened yesterday. So now iatse members aren't allowed to work on any of their shows at all. Editing is on strike as well. It's a shame. The producers and director are taking it personally. What they don't get is they already have their insurance. It's a dga show.
