Premium Members brett.mayfield Posted August 31, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 31, 2015 hey yall is anyone using the dual battery cages from teradek on their bolt 2000 tx or rx? just wondering if youve found any advantage to using them. seems like every picture i see does not have these, but are there any owners who have purchased them and seen them play? any issues with transmission? brett. http://teradek.com/collections/bolt#accessories#Battery_Plates
Richard James Lewis
I use one to attach my RX to the Paralinx Array. Works great.
Premium Members Stewart Smith Posted September 1, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 1, 2015 I've got them for my transmitter and for one of my receivers. Haven't seen any real transmission issues caused by using them, and it makes it nice and simple using them on the camera since the plate has its own P Tap to power the Bolt. It helps in counterbalancing Alexa Anamorphic or Cooke 5/is in handheld configurations quite a bit as well. Would love to hear others' opinions if there's anyone else using them

Premium Members Stewart Smith Posted September 2, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 2, 2015 Here's one with an Epic and the stupidly large Red Pro Primes. Keeps the cable clutter down, and keeps the camera CG in line with the optical axis nicely. And another with an Alexa mini and Superspeeds in low mode with an HCX on the back to have more pan inertia.
Premium Members Marty Smith Posted September 3, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2015 I'm presuming that the dual mount has power pass-through .... am I presuming correct, or have I made a fool of myself (again!)! Premium Members brett.mayfield Posted September 3, 2015 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2015 I called teradek about this... no pass through. in fact, they are just players mounted to a cage as far as I'm aware. in order to power the tx/rx you still have to use a Ptap cable
Premium Members Marty Smith Posted September 3, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2015 Thanks Brett, so do the mounts add additional p-taps into the mix? I like to power the camera from the sled ... But the cage becomes useless if you have to power with a battery? Unless you have the relevant P-tap to camera cable .... Premium Members Stewart Smith Posted September 3, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2015 The plates do pass through power to the camera. Yes you must use a cable still to power the transmitter or receiver when using the plate/cage. There is one additional P tap gained when using this cage. If you're shooting Alexa, I like to use the 12v 2 pin to power the Bolt, or an R/S port if I have one available. That way I don't have to disconnect a cable from the bolt when we come off steadicam, I just put a battery on the back of the camera, pull the BNC and camera power cables, put the MDR on the camera, and off we go. Premium Members brett.mayfield Posted September 3, 2015 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2015 I'm glad there is pass through! I specifically asked the sales rep at teradek and he said no, so I didn't purchase. damn.I believe there is another version made by switronix as well.well, I think I'll be picking up some cages then. I am having them overnighted by Adorama and it is $33 via UPS (im in Atlanta, they are in New York). Overnight from Teradek (UPS, California) is over $100 Also, the battery plates qualify for free expedited shipping from Adorama (about 3 days). still get the warranty and price is the same. just fyi brett.
