Teradek Bolt Sidekick - Lightweight Companion Receiver

Hey Guys,

is the sidekick zero latency like the bolt 300rx?

in testing is there any lag using the sidekick?

looking at either the sidekick or another 300rx to work with my bolt 300.

like the size and versatility of the sidekick, but latency is the most important factor..

thanks for your feedback

Ben,

You should expect the same performance in regards to latency with the Sidekick as you do with the 300 RX. Not increased (or decreased) latency, all Bolt systems are <1ms.

Cheers,

Andrew

No latency, also no luts yet...

Not sure what the advantage of going from a 300 receiver to a sidekick would be.

For those with 600 and 2000 it is a considerable size and weight difference.

both ikan http://ikancorp.com/mobile/productdetail.php?id=516 and wooden camera http://woodencamera.com/Director-s-Monitor-Cage.html have monitor cages and they both work well

smallhd also has their own set of grips, I believe recently discontinued, if you can pick up a set of those. the monitor features a single 1/4-20 thread on each outside edge, for total, to you can use an Israeli arm or headless set screwa to attach the sidekick. the sidekick does not have a through-hole like the other teradek receivers, it only has a single 1/4-20 mounting thread on the bottom of the unit.

your issue is going to be power. check out media blackouts breaker batt or search this forum for the Sony / swit 8972 battery with DC out

I have a little 702/Bolt Sidekick monitor cage that I'm working on. Here's a quick glimpse:

This cage will be "cable-free" everything will snap into place, and all of the power and video will be run internally. The unit will be able to take different style battery plates, as well. The finished product will also have two power outputs and the monitor's second HD-SDI line on the side. The handles will be removeable, and I will be designing various clamps to attach follow focus hand units to the side.

If you want to know more, or you want to get in the line to get them when they're close to being done. Please email sales@mediablackout.net, or call 310-904-6222

Thanks Alan! That looks much better than the current options for the 702/Sidekick. The current Teradek Sidekick cage is too big, and the Wooden Camera handles for the 702 are wanky. Your design seems like the right tool to complete the perfect directors monitor. Please put me down for two.

Alan that looks great. Just as a side note, we are using an Odyssey 7Q monitor/recorder as the director's hh monitor with 2 Bolt Sidekick receivers attached. He can do split screen on it for A&B cam simultaneous viewing, or switch back and forth between the 2. 1 AB battery powers it all. Great set-up.
