Hey guys. Prepping for a commercial and having a problem with my G70 arm. Emailed and left VM for Tiffen, but response yet.

The lift knob on my arm rotates after I set the desired setting. When I boom the arm up and down, the lift knob doesn't hold its position. Anyone else ever have this problem? Any solutions?

Thanks

Kelsey W.

Hi Kelsey

Spoke to the guys at the factory and this was what they said.

This may be because the threads in the lift adjuster or the bearing in the carrier is a little worn. Alternatively the adjuster mechanism may be a bit loose causing the LIFT knob to rotate a bit as the adjuster flexes slightly when booming up or down. We would suggest that the arm come in for check over or service to tighten up the adjuster and/or replace the worn parts.

Hope that helps.

Robin

Thanks for the reply Robin. Funny I left a VM and an email with Tiffen Steadicam USA and not a response, not very good customer service:(

There was talk of a service manual for the G70 arm. Is there somewhere I can download a copy?

Thanks

Hey Robin. I'm hoping you can help me. I've emailed as well as called and left VM's to Tiffen and have not gotten any response. Are they still in business? I need to get this arm issue resolved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

hi Kelsey,

I did own a G50 and they should work the same. when you bought your kit together comes a strange wrench, well under the knob there's a kind of bullon, to lock the knob, if it's to tighten then the knob won't turn, too loose it won't keep position (your scenario), you just have to find the right spot. It happens with my G50 as well, easy fix, 2 minutes. hope this helps solving your problem.

cheers,

MQ
