New Exovest owners. There's a change to the pad system on the vest to deal with the problems of working with memory foam in sub-zero conditions, and we think summer performance has been improved as well.

If your pads look like the ones below, with the grey 3-D spacer mesh on the inside, here's some info that hasn't hit the user manual yet.
The configuration with the blue memory foam on the inside is for summer. Pull all the layers out, and reverse the whole sandwich for winter. The white foam stays always in the middle (though please feel free to experiment).
Please note that this is a rolling change, not part of an upgrade package. The older pads are just fine—I still have them—but these new ones are available from Steadicam if you think you need them.

could i ask any exovest owners if they have had any of their velcro start to come away from their vest at all, from the side where the clasp goes into,

mine has come away i think dues to a combo of heat and the clasp system going a bit between the pad and the vest.

it definitely isn't a problem once the vest is on and under load, only thinking of just replacing the velcro myself.

don't know if anything similar has happened to anyone?

Hi there Jess,

Sorry to hear that. If you contact Joe Wilbur, I'm sure he'll send you a new peice of velcro. Part number is 815-7895-03 (though give him the details, just in case I got it wrong). Make sure you apply the new Velcro nice and warm, otherwise t won't stick well.

I hope this cures your problem.

All the best,

Chris

An added tip to Chris' excellent idea of warming the adhesive ( normal hair dryer- a heat gun will melt the Velcro !! ) is this: Take fairly rough sandpaper and mark out where you want to apply the Velcro. Put tape all around that area to protect it. Then abrade the whole area that you are going to use gently.

The warmed and softened adhesive ( technically called V-40 by the Velcro company ) will grab better.

Best to all,

Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
