Premium Members Christopher Moone Posted April 23, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 23, 2016 Any new and interesting recorder options after NAB? I need to pick something up and right now I'm leaning towards the BlackMagic Video Assist, Would love peoples thoughts on it and any thing new. Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted April 23, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 23, 2016 Atmos and Blackmagic have new 4K recorders/7in monitors. I still have my eyes on the Starlite for my rig ,but pricey though and 720p

Premium Members Tom Wills Posted April 23, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 23, 2016 Shawn, my Atomos Samurai (and all of the rest of Atomos's SDI gear, as far as I know) all support record triggering off of Arri cameras.
Premium Members Christopher Moone Posted April 24, 2016 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 24, 2016 It should trigger off an Arri camera, it's a timecode trigger and the video assist takes timecode. I'd love to know if anyone can confirm or deny this as I am still leaning this way. Anyone?
Premium Members James Baldanza SOC Posted April 24, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 24, 2016 I've used the Transvideo Starlite, Pix E-5 and the Atomos Samurai Blade on my the sled. The Samurai Blade is the best bang for your buck. Full size BNC connectors, record video out, and quick access of the last recorded clip for easy playback. Also https://mediablackout.net can do a mod so you don't need to use onboard batteries. On the Pix E-5 I didn't like how the usb thumb drive stuck out above the unit. I didn't like the Starlite for multiple reasons.
