Premium Members Brian Nordheim Posted June 23, 2016 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted June 23, 2016 Thanks for all your input guys. Sounds like it just needs to be field tested for awhile to work out everyone's querks , then maybe Betz will take that feedback and improve upon it. They are a great company and listen. Premium Members Ramon Engle Posted June 27, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 27, 2016 James and Jarret.Do you charge a higher rental when you include the Wave? If so how? As an Omega owner i do charge additional rental when i use it. I realize theres a difference but they are similar in their affect.
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted June 27, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 27, 2016 Mariano, is it holding level? Does it drift or need recallibrating after some time?
Premium Members Clemens Treml Posted June 27, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 27, 2016 Just a question: what exactely do you use the Wave for? Are you using it because of horizon problems? Generally or in conditions like wind? Or for whip pans? Or is it to get like "Alien Revolution shots"? I just finished the Copa América and I couldn't immagine to carry that much more weight. I guess my horizon is quite ok (nobody ever complained and for the last years I was able to pay my bills), but I think for soccer und TV shows etc. you should be alright to keep your camera levelled yourself shouldn't you? I can immagine a very special use for that tool, but is it something for everyday's work? Just asking...no offense...interested in your opinions! Premium Members Jarrett P. Morgan Posted June 28, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 28, 2016 I have not used it for live things. I generally have very good horizon. The wave takes horizon off your mind in certain situations. I did a commercial with some soccer work and doing low mode work chasing soccer balls while not having to think of horizon is wonderful. Ramon, so far I haven't charged extra for it, as it isn't a tool that lets me do a different job, just one that makes my job easier. I guess it could be both ways. Plus I have still been getting it dialed in. I also am not a big fan of line-item charging for all of the little AKS. makes me seem greedy (at least I think). What are you alls thoughts on the charging?

Premium Members James Baldanza SOC Posted June 28, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 28, 2016 I'm not charging for it. The same as gyros. If I think I need it to make the shot work, I'm going to use it.
Premium Members Ramon Engle Posted June 28, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 28, 2016 I would typically use the Omega for specialty shots. Taking advantage of low to high capability. I found that unless you have had a conversation about the shot and know ahead of time, trying to install the Omega as a last minute decision doesnt really work. As a result and with the advent of the Alexa Mini im becoming a proponent of wearing it all the time. Ive been charging 15% to 25% more either on a daily or weekly. Is there a way to lock it like with the betz? to prevent unwanted rotation?
