READ THIS FIRST - Be Very Careful of Scams

Buy & Sell in the SteadicamForum.com Marketplace at your Own Risk.

If you receive an email that looks like it's from SteadicamForum.com, make sure the web links in the email are exactly SteadicamForum.com, not something similar. Scammers can make a web site that looks just like SteadicamForum.com but is a fake. If you log in to their fake forum, they'll have your real forum login and can hack your account here on the real forum.

If you are tricked into clicking the link the scammer will steal your forum login, change your forum password and email address, and impersonate you in the forum. They will use your account to send out fake login emails to other forum members and try to hack their accounts too.

If you are considering buying from a forum member, please please please do some research and make sure they are who they say they are before you send anyone funds, even if they are a long-time forum member. A long time member's account may have been compromised by an impostor.

Any legitimate seller or buyer will be happy to provide you with real information. Scammers typically just try to make the sale quickly without answering any complicated questions. Don't rush it.

Call the person on the phone and talk in detail about the item and transaction details. Make sure they know what they're talking about.

If they're the seller, have them immediately text you photos of the item that you can tell are current. Ask them to pose in the picture.

Use a payment method that includes fraud protection. Don't use PayPal's "Gift" option which does not offer any protection.

Do not use a bank transfer to send money. Bank transfers are not reversible and do not offer buyer protection.

Change your forum password. Use the forum's Two Factor Authentication feature. This protects your account from being compromised.

Be safe.

Good post!

I would like to add (More fro sellers): Double check your PayPal account when you receive money!!! There is a lot of fraud with wrong messages about money sent to you. They make it look like they sent you money which is unlocked after you'll sent them the tracking number of the parcel. This kind of transactions is only to get access to your PayPal account. Normally by checking your Paypal account before answering them makes it clear they didn't send anything.

Hope you understood, my english is not the best.

Hello everyone

A few days ago a scammer contacted me outside the forum trying to sell me a sled - which was posted on the forum by another user -

I followed the game to see how far it went..

He called himself "John Weekend", and his email is: johnwkd468@gmail.com

Googling his email I found that he had already tried to scam in another forum:

https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/scam-user-name-johnwkd_topic50570_post514794.html#514794

The paypal account where he wanted me to send money is:
ndungufran23@gmail.com

Be careful.

Greetings to all,

I can second this so-called "John Weekend." He tried to contact me about a Sushi Server and was saying very strange things, and was trying to get me to do Paypal Friends/Family Payment. I kept asking for photos and he kept telling me his phone was blind (?) and when he did send photos they were simply images of the few other used Sushi Servers on the Forum/online. He also was trying to get his friend, Tom Wills (who is an actual operator on here, and he confirmed to me that he never messaged me the things this imposter Tom Wills stated) to sell me something and had the same strange typing style and this so-called blind phone issue. Throughout all of this, I was very skeptical of his/their choice of words and typo's, and once John said that he'd preferred iTunes gift cards I knew this was nooo bueno. So yeah, be cautious of Mr. Weekend, and his potential false claims to be other people on the Forum.

I remember when you told me this - so strange for someone to try to impersonate me! I’m far too easy to find and corroborate stories with for that to work!

Hello everyone,

A while ago, someone message me by the name Jeff Timothy, about a Jerry Hill docking bracket that I'm looking for.

He's trying to make me contact someone else in the email: richardkaren004@gmail.com

He joined the forum 1 hour ago, with no information, so this is an obvious scam.

Be careful..!

Hey everyone,

Someone contacted me through my email from my website, they said they saw my post on the steadicam forum.

They said they were Barbara Holler from NewProVideo. They were not, everything played out and looked real besides the email they were using wasn’t from the companies website.

NewProVideo is a great equipment resale company and wouldn’t scam.

It seems the email is one from Europe that is anonymous. The info they sent me is from a post they stole from 2015.

I contacted newprovideo today and they said it wasn’t them. Be careful out there!

Hello everyone,

How do I deal with a member  ( KAPIL VERMA) that asks me on the forum about the Wave 1 that I have for sale since July 19 2023  and then I find out that he puts an Add on the Facebook group Steadicam Gear: RENT | SELL | WANT TO BUY  on August 14 2023 , with the same pictures I took stating that the gear is in India?

The Wave is with me, but some one is about to get scammed. I believe his account should be banned. Is confrontation the  best option with scammers?
