Qbranch Qlite problems: solutions?

Hi Justin,

90% is the software. Updating new basecamp firmware.

Reset calibration; then re calibration (6 points).

Set PID (this one is hard), set motor strength.

10% hardware problem is balancing.

Make sure you have a top mount monitor or counter weight.

Balance till camera is neutral in all roll angles.

Once, you make it work, changing lens doesn't affect its function.

Different camera weight might need a different set of PID, so a prep-day before the shoot will help.

Hi Joshua,

Its problem is that it doesn't work at the first time.

It is not really a plug-and-play one.

I'm sorry that my post makes you mad.

I understand your situation; I think I had that same frustration as well.

To all,

My intention of posting this here is to help, not to make enemy.

Message me if you need help (help means no money)

If you want to debate about it, please ignore me and my posts.

Peace,

Ken Nguyen.

Ken,

I'm not mad, if you can get the omega lite to work with an Alexa with a zoom, a follow focus and a monitor then change lenses to a prime and get it to work in less than... Well... Another prep days time, Post a video of you explaining exactly how to do it. The point of us being irritated and feeling like this is a sham product is because it was sold by Howard as a platform that could handle basically any camera with a zoom. Beyond that would be easy to use. I've spent weeks testing the Omega lite with no real succes with very light cameras let alone a large camera.

PLEASE KEN....Show us the error of our PID tuning ways and I'll used the omega lite in a work situation. But The way I see it there is no way the Omega lite belongs on a professional set. It's like you said.... A TOY at Best.

Hi Joshua,

Right now, I don't have any access to an Alexa and a heavy zoom lens.

But, if you go on Facebook MK-V

this link: https://www.facebook.com/MK-V-110717045633692/

you can see it.

To my understand, most of electronic gimbal need to recalibrate after purchase.

Some comes with several profiles so operator can select to make it work with certain camera weight.

I'm lucky, after the recalibration, I don't have to do it again.

My camera is range from RED to broadcast camera, with FF and zoom motors and wireless TX.

Just likes Steadicam system, it's not plug-and-play.

You need to balance it properly.

Trust me, spend sometime, patiently, balanced your camera inside the Omega.

Make sure it is well balanced, so camera can stay at any roll angle.

Then power on your omega.

If there is vibration, then you need to recalibrate the Omega.

it is very forgiving system in term of mechanical balance.

After balanced, change lens, or add a few stuffs in won't hurt.

I'm in California.

You can ship your Omega to me to calibrate it for you.

Email me at kennguyen@mac.com

Cheers,

Ken Nguyen.

Wow, that is really generous to offer your time. Just another example of the great community of operators on this board! Howard, I hope you are reading these posts and getting a clue of what real professionals are willing to do to help each other.

Hi,

I put a very big motor in mine, and a full sized board, and most importantly have a good menu button. I found wrong numbers in the start paperwork that would keep us from calibrating the encoder properly, and also set 3 good notch filters on the filters page. Its always a big headache when they come out with new software. A lot of getting good at this is compensating and utilizing the Alexmos gear most effectively. I have been a Steadicam operator since the days when none of our gear worked when we bought it. So Omega Lite was something I just worked hard on. I get my parts from iFlight. I payed them with Paypal and parts came from China quickly.

Here is a link to a video where I used it on every shot for the first time last spring. https://youtu.be/4JtOKYdJWh0

Just a shout out for Ken Nguyen. He is a legend!

I got offered an Omega lite for a very good price. I was very cautious about it after reading this thread. But i decided to take the plunge and go for it. Initially i had the exact same problems that are described here but I emailed Ken for help and no questions asked he helped me out for 6 1/2 hrs to get it working. What a difference and different machine it is. Just wanted to say that this is a great community and and thank you again Ken!
