Paying your bills

At what point should I stop being quiet about operators not paying their bills. I have one customer, initials JS that has been using my cables on his Pro CineLive sled for 2 1/2 years, but has ignored all attempts at collection. Would it be doing a service if others knew that they will be stiffed! And exactly who is doing it!

I just had a very long conversation two days ago with a client of mine about why I always take payment up front, and he was surprised that I operate that way. There are always the select few that ruin it for everyone. I hope he pays what he owes to you, and soon.

I'd love to see him set up on set and a collection agent, come over, grab every one of your cables from his kit just as he's ready to do the first shot of the day.

It's one of those small things that without you can't operate.

If your reading this whomever you are.

Pay Terry what you owe him.....Or have you been working 100% for free the last 2-1/2 years?

I had to adopt the same policy due to getting shafted by Danny Sherwin, maker of the FMG-6. He bought 2 BFD's and paid for them, then ordered a third and refused to pay. He later denied even ordering or getting the unit. I don't miss him at all.

Hi all;

Maybe when used gear is sold and potential buyers call manufacturers about the gear any balance owed can be mentioned?

Options now are known and manufacturers can maybe collect?

At least a chain of responsibility can begin when gear is purchased to prevent future embarrassment?

This is just about what is your commitment when you buy?

It doesn't help Terry but maybe a code of ethics I thought we already had.

That would certainly help. Michael Segler owed $500 on his BFD for about 12 years. Then one day it came in for repairs from someone else. I asked the owner where he had purchased it and it was from the late Derrick Whitehouse I called Derrick and he said he had bought and resold all of Mr. Segler's gear. He gave me Michael's e-mail and I requested he pay up but never received a response. i guess once he got out of the business any debts he owed he considered cancelled.
