Good afternoon one and all,

Frequently one of us has an emergency arise. We're in dire need of a particular piece of gear. Either something just broke or was stolen or blew up or caught fire or....whatever.

In the spirit of support and the kind of community many of us believe we are and always will be, I have started the Steadicam Rescue Group.

As it says in the introduction to this private Group,

Welcome to the Steadicam Rescue page. I’ve been pondering this idea for a while and after discussing it with both David Allen Grove and Victor Lazaro ( Admins of the other two primary Facebook pages for Steadicam ), this launches today.

Here’s the goal of the Steadicam Rescue page: The ONLY posts that should go here are one of two types and the best way to articulate what the goal is is to create a post for each.

1) EMERGENCY NEW YORK CITY: Need an arm with post to interface with Tiffen M1 sled. My arm was stolen off of my cart a few hours ago. It was a G-70X but any strong arm will do. I have adaptor posts. PM me or my cell # is: XXX-XXX-XXXX

2) GEAR SOUGHT MISSOULA MONTANA: I’ve got a gig in a few weeks in New York City where I’ll be asked to use a Vehicle Mount. Anyone local to the city who can loan or rent me a vehicle mount with GPI/PRO arm socket? PM me or my cell # is: XXX-XXX-XXXX.

The only acceptable replies to either post that anyone subscribing should see are along the lines of

“ I’m in Billings, Montana and have a Vehicle Mount. I’ll PM you now. “

There are enough emergencies, and some needs that are planned for, that sometimes get buried in the normal Steadicam Group page that it seems this will be useful.

If you are inclined to either help out in an emergency or rent some items in your kit, then please subscribe. This is NOT in any way mean to replace or supplant the Buy/Sell Facebook page for our community.

This is mean to provide very immediate assistance worldwide to those in need. I will make every effort as the Admin here to remove all posts that evolve into conversations about gear.

In this way, those who want to help out and/ or rent gear can subscribe to this page knowing that there won’t be a blizzard of Notifications of new posts. The only traffic on this page should be limited to the two examples above.

I hope this is of use to our community worldwide. To that end, I’m going to join the European Facebook pages and Forum and any other I can find. Facebook translates readily. "
This group is ENTIRELY agnostic. That is to say, owners of every single brand of stabilizer are welcome to join and use as a way of resolving emergencies, or upcoming gear needs.
This is not a replacement for the Steadicam Group or the Buy/Sell Group. This is solely for emergencies.
The amount of posting traffic on the main Steadicam Facebook page means that I don't subscribe to all notifies. I do visit it at least once a day on average, but emergencies demand rapid responses. If we keep the traffic limited- as I've outlined- then anyone can follow in their Newsfeed and have very little in the way of traffic hitting their smartphone or other device.
Hope this is useful to all !
Best,
Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
