Hardy,

If your vest is a Master Series Vest it is probably the same as the Ultra vest. You should contact Kyle Young at the Tiffen Company in LA. His number is 310-645-4568 extension 17. He should be able to help you get a replacement.

Not sure if the plastic on the masters is any dfferent than the old 3a's and EFP's and so on, but if it's not, the stuff is called puckboard and is used to line the inside of hockey rinks. A 4' x 8' sheet should cost you about $25 bucks. Cut it with a dremel and heat it with a heat gun and gut it with an olfa cutter and mold it with the heat. hould be available through any major plastics company. I hope that helps.

It's not "puckboard". It's an extremely high grade of polypropelene, and I have to say I second Mike's suggestion.

Call Tiffen and get a new bellyplate from them, for a Master Series or Ultra vest.

And, this is coming from a man who, for 17 years, has made and sold Steadicam vest plastics for out of date and older model vests where there are no longer stock parts available

It is NOT run of the mill material, and is formed and cut with precision. Go for it, it's yer vest for god's sake. :) Call up Kyle, he'll take care of you.

Kindest intent, Peter...

I would hope that the "puckboard" is the same structural material (seemed to be when I replaced my vest plastic) as it has to stand up to 275 pounds of Hockey player (x 2 for checking) traveling at 60km/hr or the puck traveling at well over 100.

Haven't tried that test with my vest yet. But if I do, I'll be sure to post a pic.
