Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted February 19, 2006 Moderators Report Share Posted February 19, 2006 Hey folks. My wife (who is a DP and is used to Steadi-babble) and I are going to be in LA for a few days next week and would love to get some people together on Friday Feb 24th for drinks. I spoke with Charles, Erwin, and Jim about this but neglected to think of a place..... Anyway, I'd love to see/meet a bunch of you, so I thought I'd throw this out and see where we end up. What is the Steadicam Guild bar again? Is this good? Suggestions welcome and hope to see you there. Cheers.

Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted February 19, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2006 Hi Alec, There is the Tin Horn Flats Bar in Burbank. They have a patio, might be a little crowded/cold for a Friday night. Dalt's also a restaurant and it's bigger. It's where we always meet after cinegear. Let me know your liking and I can send out an email to the guild membership of time, place and directions.
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted February 20, 2006 Author Moderators Report Share Posted February 20, 2006 Thanks guys! Eric, you'll be missed (look me up if ever in NYC). David, Geoff, the place is still up for debate. I spoke to Erwin again and he suggested somewhere in Los Felz, which happens to be Charles' neighborhood as well (have another call into him for recommendations). As for Burbank, we discovered that Dalt's is closed! Other places are still an option, but let's find something that is not too loud (nice to hear each other). My wife is looking into options as well since she is inviting friends of her own. Since she does not have an easy forum like this, her method will be an evite so she is pushing for us to make a choice soon. We arrive on Tuesday and my cell is 917-804-6606. Only there a week and already way too booked up, but hopefully this works out and I can see a bunch of you. BJ, we'll still be there! Cheers. Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted February 20, 2006 Author Moderators Report Share Posted February 20, 2006 Come to think of it, I have been to a strip club with my wife in LA..... But, not this time (sorry Ron - still hope you come). We have a couple of thumbs up for a place in Silverlake (thanks Charles) called "Red Lion" (http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/68670). City Search writes: "Decorated in a dark, Tudor-styled motif with stained-glass windows and Oktoberfest-themed decor, this bar is a little bit of Bavaria in L.A. Head to the main room downstairs if you're looking for a mellow, German atmosphere. A little too mellow? Go upstairs for a merrier vibe. Walk into the beer garden in a bad mood and the friendly service and atmosphere is guaranteed to turn your mood festive. If that doesn't work, there's Jagermeister on tap, a great selection of draft beers and a dependable pub-grub menu." Sounds cool and like I said, I have to pull the trigger so I really hope this is an okay location for people. We'll be there from 8PM until..... So please come on down! Premium Members Charles Papert Posted February 22, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 22, 2006 I told Alec about this, but for any other intrepids who are going on Friday that may not be fans of German food and want to pre-line their stomachs elsewhere, there's a great restaurant a few doors down called "Gingergrass" that serves upscale Vietnamese--highly recommended. Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted February 23, 2006 Author Moderators Report Share Posted February 23, 2006 Hey, nice weather here... Glad to see people are happy with the choice (Charles, always admired your taste)! I look forward to seeing everyone (yes, Brad, its been too long). Dave, I did get your email and I did call them to let them know we're coming (they didn't seem to concerned). Thanks!
