Premium Members chris fawcett Posted December 30, 2017 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 30, 2017 The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in LA will honour more than 40 years of the noble art by installing a permanent Steadicam exhibit in place for its opening in 2019. Garrett has rounded up a selection of old prototypes, including early models (sorme of which you can see in this charming photograph) but he is missing three items that will make the collection complete. If you have, or know anyone that has, any of these, and would like to donate them to this worthy cause, please contact me with details. This is a project dear to Garrett's heart, and he sends his profound thanks in anticipation of your help. Required is: 1/ Cinema Products Model 1 Steadicam Arm. This is the version with the one-way hinge that had to be swapped for goofy. 2/ Cinema Products Throated Rear Arri 400 Mag for the Steadicam IIC. 3/ Zeiss Distagon 24mm (Arri Mount). These items are for display purposes, so do not have to be in working condition!
Alastair Rae
Hi Chris, I remember opening a store-cupboard door in the bowels of Pantvision in London about twenty years ago and there was what I took to be the remains of a Panaglide. Whatever I was searching for somehow took precedence and I have pretty much forgotten about it until I read your message. I will investigate. Best wishes with the search. It will make a most noble exhibit. Best wishes, Al Rae
Premium Members chris fawcett Posted January 29, 2018 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted January 29, 2018 Hey Al, Thanks for that! I’m sure Garrett would be very interested in hearing more. All the best, Chris
Alastair Rae
Hello again Chris, Panavision are having a rummage to see if the relics can be uncovered so I will contact you when I hear more. As the Panaglide was, in effect, the opposition, the material may not be relevant but at least if we have it there would be options. Kindest regards, Al bishopofgiblet@macace.net

Premium Members TerryWest Posted June 3, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 3, 2018 Hi Chris. I dont know if they are of value to you. But you did like the Steadicam 35 that I gave to Garrett! I have a file cabinet with technical schematics on the Steadicam back in the 70s and 80s. I also have a Arri IIIC Manual, a Moviecam Super America Manual... I will be at the Stabilizer Gear Expo today. But I dont want them lost to history to when my time comes to retire in the not so distant future. So you might want to send someone by my shop to look through my files, see if you want any of it. This was one of the first wireless follow focus ever made. Jim Bartell
