Difference between a 3A and EFP arm?

Just curious if anyone can anyone tell me the difference between a 3A and EFP arm? I have an EFP arm and I have not shot with a 3A for a long time, but looking at pictures, they seem almost identical, except for a few drilled holes and sone slightly different elbows, etc... The 3A has a cable or spring end that comes out of each arm, screwed to the side of the arm with a bracket, but otherwise they seem pretty similar.

Shawn,

The EFP and 3a arm are fundamentally the same design. Both arms evolved so you may see slight differences in the way they are configured even between their own "category", but the only real difference is the springs. The 3a had beefier springs that allow for more weight. The nature of these arms meant they didn't like functioning at their lowest weight setting, so the EFP was a better choice for light set-ups and the 3a for heavy set-ups. If you search the forum you can probably find the weight range charts for both arms.
