Panavision f900 steadicam plate

I meant to post this last summer but I have only just been reminded about this weirdness

The steadicam plate for the f900 bolts onto the 4 corners of your dovetail plate. As a result you cannot adjust it forwards or backwards vis a vis your dovetail plate. If you have a short ratchet (IIIA style) like I do this does not leave you with a lot of scope.

I got asked to carry the panavision Digi primo zoom lens. Not the most traumatically heavy of zoom lenses (although a hell of a lot heavier than a J11). All of a sudden I could not move my camera back on my dovetail plate (as it screws in all 4 corners) and I was left with the only option and that was to carry the BIG Anton Bauer on the back of the camera to counterbalance. This in turn forced me to carry an extra PAG at the bottom of my sled to balance out! Making for a very very heavy rig. Simply because the DP was too lazy to come up with definate lens decisions. I carried it for a few shots but realised how pointless it was and went back to the panavision digiprimes.

So whats this all about! am I stupid or are they mad. Why can t they provide a plate for the panaf900 that simply 3/8th witworths onto your dovetail plate.

Please tell me I am missing something.

Cheers

Thomas
