Lammo
Wonder whether Jim or anybody can help me. We have an analog BFD with the M-One motor my question is is there a mod to convert the handset to use digital motors? Is it just a case of the PLC receiver?I have a CMotion CForce motor & would like to use this with the Bartech. Thanks in advance. Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted April 9, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 9, 2018 You will need a digital PLC receiver to do that. The handset will work with either a digital or analog receiver.
Premium Members Alex Leung Posted April 11, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2018 I did not know this! So, technically, I can use an old Analog Bartech handset, to talk to a Digital Bartech Receiver with a digital motor like a Preston Motor? You will need a digital PLC receiver to do that. The handset will work with either a digital or analog receiver.
Premium Members JensSchroeder Posted April 11, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2018 Yes, like Lawrence said, you have to have a digital receiver. But the Handset (transmitter) will work with both, analog and digital receiver. So you can have for example an analog receiver for channel 1 and parallel a digital receiver for channel 2. Premium Members Claus Stuhlweissenburg Posted April 11, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2018 Keep in mind that the handset, transmitter, needs to have a software upgrade to convert it from analog to digital.
Premium Members JensSchroeder Posted April 11, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2018 I didn't have an upgrade but it works. Just ask Jim Bartell. Keep in mind that the handset, transmitter, needs to have a software upgrade to convert it from analog to digital.
Premium Members JimBartell Posted June 14, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 14, 2018 I don't know how I missed this when it was posted. All BFD handsets will work with either analog or digital receivers. However, a very small minority (<5%) of older units that are still running obsolete software may need an update. The upgrade is $45 for the new CPU chip.
Lammo
Thanks Jim (& everyone else). If I purchase the PLC F-Stop box will I be able to use a CMotion CForce motor with it? Thanks Lammo
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted June 21, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 21, 2018 The 4-pin CForce motors will not work with standard 7-pin digital motor drivers. CForce motors use a proprietary serial signal called "LBUS" that only works with Cmotion and Arri motor drivers.
