Premium Members Mikhail Galustov Posted July 24, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 24, 2018 Hi, I know this must be an old subject for anyone who's been here a while, but still wanted to revisit and pick your thoughts about the advantages and disadvantages of each for film work with Amira and Mini. It's obvious that the Titan arm is a preferred choice but what about the sleds? Many thanks, m
Zach Price
PROs hold their value and if you're in the US its nearly impossible to get in contact with Tiffen. When I was looking to purchase a new sled I considered an Archer 2 kit however after calling them every week for a month straight and getting the same answer that they would have someone call me back I gave up and went through with purchasing a sled from PRO. Jack and Michelle were great on answer any questions I had and their customer service is incredible. Took them about a week to build my sled. All the parts are modular and upgradable or downgradable. Premium Members Mikhail Galustov Posted July 27, 2018 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted July 27, 2018 (edited) Thank you for sharing your experience Zach. I'd be curious to find out if there is anyone here who uses the Titan arm with the Tiffen M1 sled. Premium Members Marc Abernathy Posted August 6, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 6, 2018 Best is to get a hold of someone local and check out what they have. “Film” work these days mostly means flying some video camera , and with the extra electronics and power thirst of the alexa, Amira, etc etc etc cameras, you want to make sure your sled can power them comfortably and with enough headroom for aks. These days all the big name rigs can handle these requirements, so its not as much of an issue finding a sled to meet those needs. Tiffen have lost a couple of potential buyers from me directly. I recommended the M1 (i fly it every day) and two cats were ready to drop cash (not finance) and after not hearing back from Tiffen, they both went to PRO. In my opinion customer service after the sale is more important so I’d weigh on that. Now the M1 and G70x is a tasty combo. Have you ever flown a G70x? Don’t sleep on it... Premium Members Damien Tessandier Posted September 15, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 15, 2018 I fly M-1 on a Pro arm. I've flown G-70 for years too, and it's a great piece of gear. For some reason I ended up with a Titan, and I'm happy with it. This combo I like a lot. M-1 is very easy to set up, and I use and love many of its features. As everybody keeps saying, you got to give it a try... and make your own opinion. Premium Members Damien Tessandier Posted September 15, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 15, 2018 M-1 is obviously longer and probably heavier than Pro cinelive. Which is a big deal. I do my best to keep my rig as short as possible (mainly adding dead weight on the battery rack part of the sled). This may sound dumb... I know :-) But I like my tilthead, I like my telescopic center post, I like adding inertia on my sled by extending battery rack, ect... Many things that are not so easy to achieve with a Pro, in my opinion. Plus, we all get used to work with our rig, we know how to make it work the way we like. Long story short: I would love to come on set with a Pro beside my M1.

Tom Rogers
PRO sleds are bombproof, they just work and you can get ahold of them easily. Presently they have the slickest gimbal around and they are dead simple and easy to find all over the world in an emergency situation. Now that Tiffen has a Volt Gimbal conversion kit there really is a reason to look anywhere else than PRO
Premium Members Alan G. Kelly SOC Posted October 12, 2018 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 12, 2018 Better gimbal than XCS? Most owners I know would say otherwise?
