Anybody know of a cheap camera head that may work. I have tried with a little DV camera but obviously it can not quite get "in there" enough... other wise it looks like it could work great. As the eyepiece is making a picture on infinity, it should be possible to image that with any tiny lens, might need to experiement with the focal length though. Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted March 15, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 15, 2006 Hi Thomas I have something very similar to this, ebay Item number: 5876118608 Tiny thing, a bit fiddly due to the fact it takes those 9v duracell batteries, but you can adjust the lens to get good close focus, so it should work for you. You'll just have to shop around on ebay to avoid getting stung by massive shipping costs! Yeah, bit fiddly!!! on my tiny little super8 mm it s really fiddly. But it does sort of work. I think a slightly longer lens is in order as well as at the moment it s only filling 1/4 frame at its correct distance. At first I really thought it was not working, but you have to back the little lens off by an inch from the eyepiece before it starts working. Then am 1/8th to the left or right and poof... no image. VERY FIDDLY! It s funny because I produced a little thing for the first time the other week, I was so surprised by how much an video tap costs to hire!!!! nearly as much as the 435 !!!! It s a whole new world of technology/headache/money I had never really considered. Anyhow! this super8 is gonna fly!! starting to wish I had a flyer ...... N.B. These new kodak 200t and 500t stocks on super8mm are well interesting, look loads better than HDV etc. Trying to develop a working package for promo land getting away a little from the s8 K40 look. My housemate reckons you could get a thread adaptor and put a c-mount camera with no lens onto the eyepiece and it would work perfect! save a lot of hassle! Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted March 16, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 16, 2006 So where is the other half bottle of Vodka......??? :P Thomas, most, if not all eyepieces are made to look at infinity, meaning, your eye and therefore any other imaging device must be focused on infinity to make a sharp image. So you need a lens on your camera if you use it with the original eyepiece. And you need probably a different lens, focussed much closer and enlarging too, when you remove the original eyepiece.
