Buying a Actioncam Raptor in 2019?

I have an oppurtunity to buy a action cam raptor at a good price. (Sled, Arm, Vest) The rig seems really nice. Guy said he flew it for 4 yrs.

Should I be concerned with too much use on the gimbal already?

The company is no longer in operation anymore, part may be dificult to find...?

Im also Considering a Zephyr, Am I better off going that route? This will be my first rig.

Thanks

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

How much is he selling his for?

Just throwing this out there but I am currently selling my Action Cam Raptor, with very little use on it. I have used it 3 times in total and I realized it won't be used as often as I would have liked. I will say, the Raptor is the best rig I have used for lightweight setups but with my purchase of the Movi Pro, I don't use it like I thought I would. Both a friend and I purchased the Raptor at the same time and we both love how well built it is and how it performs.

I have great photos of my unit if you're still interested. I live in Toronto, and if you happen to live close by I could always let you try it out.

Good luck with the search!

Aaron

Ryan, try a Raptor and try the zephyr. As I told you before, the big advantage of the raptor is the ability to service it by yourself, and outfit it for your special needs. On the other hand, the zephyr is well serviced by Tiffen and you can resale it easier (as you can see).

The most expensive part of a good rig is the time for practice. All these hours of practicing should be done with a professional rig you like and feel comfortable and is able to go on set too.

So really, try and then buy! Take your time to make a good choice for you.

Sorry to jump in on your conversation Ryan but I am a Raptor Pro owner and it's been fantastic. I think if you can get a good price then you're probably getting a great bang for your $ since the company did go out of business. It's been a while since I used a Zephyr (rented) but I'd say you get a beefier setup with a Raptor. As far as gimbal mine is going strong and it's been about 4 years I think.

My issue is now I want to fly heavier setups and I didn't get the HEAVY DUTY SPRINGS before they went out of business so if anyone has any HEAVY DUTY ACTIONCAM RAPTOR SPRINGS I would absolutely LOVE to buy them from you. Even without them I can fly a decently rigged Venice and anything smaller is total cake.

Thanks and good luck!
